Something is missing from this story. The district official said they can't talk because of privacy laws, and the teacher doesn't remember giving the assignment. I'm not sure who to believe. Was the teacher told to say that by the administration to protect from lawsuits? Was the kid lying about the assignment?
Bottom line...no laws were broken, and has this school made a rule against free speech, In regards to gun control? I remember arguing with teachers in HS over this issue. I wasn't told to take a phsyce exam.
When I was a teen I was into reading books about mythology, the occult, WW2 and fantasy. Weapons of all types were forefront in my extracurricular studies.
I guess I would have been thrown out of school today.
I wonder if the kid would be in trouble if he had produced a video that was anti gun?

I can't imagine the teacher would lie about it.... because there are 30 students in the class who would have to be in on it as well.
It doesn't matter whether it was an approved school assignment or not. What matters is such an extreme over reaction because the kid had a different viewpoint than the school administration. The pendulum has swung way too far to the left and it is time to start centering things again.

I was much the same way. Swords and other such weapons did and still do hold a lot of interest for me. I even made such things in wood and welding class. Couldn't do that now....

One person we perhaps can not believe is the person quoted.
"Under their version of events, the student was given a disciplinary suspension for merely completing a school project assigned by his teacher that expressed an unpopular viewpoint, then was required to disenroll from the district.
They say this is false. It is, but it seems the family has never made this claim so of course it is false. I saw no where that he was required to disenroll. The family said they made that choice as opposed to sending him through re-education training.
They need to file the lawsuit.
