LA Times editorial looks at the long range-impact of Trump on America in term of how he:

stokes public distrust of essential institutions.

repeats t alt-right conspiracy theories, racist memes and crackpot ideas.

demonstrates "utter lack of regard for truth."

"It’s difficult to know whether he actually can’t distinguish the real from the unreal — or whether he intentionally conflates the two to befuddle voters, deflect criticism and undermine the very idea of objective truth."

"Whatever the explanation, he is encouraging Americans to reject facts, to disrespect science, documents, nonpartisanship and the mainstream media — and instead to simply take positions on the basis of ideology and preconceived notions. This is a recipe for a divided country in which differences grow deeper and rational compromise becomes impossible."

That's a great summary of where we are, as a Country, with Mr. Trump as President.

"The United States is not a perfect country, and it has a great distance to go before it fully achieves its goals of liberty and equality. But preserving what works and defending the rules and values on which democracy depends are a shared responsibility. Everybody has a role to play in this drama."

Re: bold: Agree wholeheartedly with this long story short version - everyone does have a role to play. Mr. Bannon's underlying influence on Mr. Trump's agenda appears to have resulted in what he has phrased as "deconstruction of the administrative state." This is NOT preserving what works, this is NOT defending the rules & values on which democracy depends. This is irresponsible & reckless, everyone has a role in countering with facts based on evidence including science, & upon the rules & values of a functioning democracy, i.e. based in reality & not on ideological fantasies.

Today's lie concerns surveillance. Whole problem is the fact his staff, possibly the POTUS himself, contacted many who were being watched. So now he claims he was the one who was being watched.
Just what was the reason to be contacting Russians so often you created an issue? Remember the POTUS claims to have no business in Russia.

Trying to deflect again with more lies.

POTUS up early and spreading fake news through his tweets. He must be feeling some serious heat to be lying this early on a Monday.

Lying is who Trump is - programmed into his DNA - and that of his kids - so it probably doesn't bother him/them at all as he plans to continue to baffle and confuse and obfuscate with as many lies as it takes - until he is the last man standing. After all, his lies have stood him in good stead for most of his life. Why change what's always worked?
Right.. this disgusting a______ is so used to being able to "get away with murder" his entire life, protected by money and status, everything adding to his overblown ego. Now that everyone is having to put up with this monstrosity (due to his fans and whatever else was done to get him elected), the country (and world) is going down with the ship. Though he has always escaped having to pay for his crimes, I think that will be ending.

So today the POTUS must have had his ears closed as he was laughed at by construction guys. The room went quiet as he spoke when laughing and booing could be heard. He then tweets about the great response from the crowd.

Anything to distract from his Russia problem.

Exclamation Fact Check: Trump, Faulting Obama on Syria, Contradicts Himself

In a statement condemning Tuesday’s chemical attack in Syria, President Trump faulted the administration of former President Barack Obama for not intervening more aggressively in that country’s civil war — contradicting his own, earlier advice.
“Today’s chemical attack in Syria against innocent people, including women and children, is reprehensible and cannot be ignored by the civilized world,” Mr. Trump said in the statement released by the White House. “These heinous actions by the Bashar al-Assad regime are a consequence of the past administration’s weakness and irresolution.”[MOD Cut/copyright]

He is the biggest POS-HYPOCRITE in history! I am no fan of Obama or Clinton, but man I hope his plane crashes on his next trip!

It's just callous, uncaring, insensitive, ridiculous to blame a previous USA administration for this tragedy and yet offer up no real solution, no real help.

I don't know if it was because the USA should have done more or whatever but assigning blame instead of offering up a solution or just prayers was unnecessary, self serving, cruel, tasteless, immature, ridiculous....

I agree here. What solution are you offering Donald. The ball is in your court.

OK, Obama screwed up. He's no longer making the decisions. What is the solution?
