When I was a kid, allowing the flag to touch the ground would get you an admonishment from some of the many WWII vets who were always around.
It was that way until The Supreme Court said it wasn't - Brennan, Marshall, Blackmun, Scalia, Kennedy were the majority.
The flag burner, Gregory Lee Johnson, was a communist and had lots of problems, but all that is on the internet. It's not against the law to be obnoxious or stupid. He was arrested again in Cleveland this past July.
I agree and I also think we should bring back mandatory 2 years service in the military when you turn 18 or graduate from high school. You can disagree with how another person thinks, you have a right to free speech but burning the flag isn't one of those. If you don't like America and what she stands for don't let the door hit you in the ass.

Not true. I don't like to see "Old Glory" being desecrated or burned but the Constitution gives us that right.
It is true and no the Constitution doesn't give you that right. Justices who legislated from the bench "gave that right". It's a sad day when a mailbox has more rights than the American flag.

for that flag ? So tell me, what happens when an angered vet with
mental issues fires his machine gun on flag burners and kills scores

Have you considered that people such as yourself and Trump who hate the constitution and everything this country stands for are the ones who should get out?
I would never think of burning our flag, but I fully support others' right to do so. Free speech is an important part of our Constitution, and I don't want anything to threaten that. However, I'd be willing to make a trade. No more flag burning allowed if the Westboro Baptist Church no longer has the right to protest at funerals, etc.!
What if we compromise and just burn the Westboro Church loonies instead?
It's not about worshiping the flag. If one doesn't want to be here then leave. People that burn the flag and desecrate it have no respect for the Constitution or the country.
Check your flag code again, and lets discuss the proper way to dispose of a flag.
