You will note that your article actually intends to stir up outrage, while the study finds very little differences between SNAP and non-SNAP family buying patterns. And the use of "soft drinks" is intended to spark outrage, since the study refers to sweetened beverages (which includes kool-aid, any juice products that aren't 100% juice, and beverages that are sweetened by sugar and by non-sugar sweeteners), versus "soft drinks".
But, but, but...the OP doesn't *want* his outrage alleviated.

Please be careful. You are talking sense, and that is a dangerous thing.

I recently gave up on Diet Coke after drinking 2-3 per day for the last 10 years. I am now drinking water and tea only. It can be done.

It's awful. We don't pay these men and women enough. Not nearly enough.

Then, when they use a program to help feed their families because they are underpaid, they are subject to the judgement of people who want to degrade and demean the poor. Even those who are serving our country simply because they are using a program to help put food on the table. SMH.

The dark hearts of some Americans are fully exposed in these threads. As is their ignorance.

Wow. I'm pretty sure I make more money than you and I'd never look down on people the way you do.

Nope. Grabbed a cup of oatmeal and a smoothie on the way out of work this morning. You should try eating better too. It will do wonders for you neglected, bacteria-ridden brain.

Really don't know why what they choose to buy is such a big deal.

Time to end this taxpayer rip off and let private charities funded with private money through voluntary giving handle the feeding of "the poor". I guarantee they'll watch where the money goes much closer than the bureaucrats in Washington.
Either end this stupid food stamp game or control what can be purchased. There used to be more restrictions placed on what could be purchased. We have a great food bank at our church but even then I am a bit shocked at what goes into the food bags each week. I will say, soft drinks isn't one of them.

What drinks do go into the food bags?

Why does an 18-21 year old recruit even HAVE a family???? Unless you are career military, you should wait until your enlistment is up before breeding. Why does the wife not work?
