no it wont die off, but unless they take the time to truly analyze what has happened to them over the last 5 or so election cycles, and change their approach to elections, they are going to go through some hard and lean times. and if trump steps up and does even 10% of what he promised, and if things get better and move in the right direction, then the democrats are going to become the minority party for a while.
so right now they have a choice, they can obstruct the republicans, and risk losing even more seats across the nation, or they can step up and help move things forward, and then when election time rolls around again, they can claim that they didnt obstruct things, unlike the republicans, and open up opportunities in that manner.
You seriously don't understand what Harry Reid did .... I got a phone and a pen. Do you understand that the phone was a direct line to Reid to shelve bipartisan bills passed in the house if Obama didn't like the bill.
I've learned, what ever Democrats accuse R's of doing, it's actually the Dems doing.
The reason for the Democrats' behavior is simple: They are essentially opposed to the central conservative/libertarian belief that open commerce, and the free exchange of human opinion is a better solution to most of a society's ills than the use of the monopoly on coercion granted to the state, and that orientation was heavily fortified when the Democratic leadership built a bridge to the radicals of the 1960's. The proper response would have been to appeal to those of us committed to individual rights and open expression, particularly within the workplace and educational environments, while marginalizing and isolating the extreme left.
The unfortunate upshot of this is that authoritarianism, usually cloaked under the inconsistencies and unquestioned collection of contradictory absolutes called Political Correctness has crept into our schools and workplaces. As a result, a blue cancer (which, given its orientation, should have been characterized as red) was planted within the nation. And radical excision is a commonly cited cure for malignancy.
What's even crazier is Democrats changed the nuclear option rule even though they were warned against it. They were so sure that Hillary and more democrats would win that they did it anyway. Now they are on wrong side of it. Now because of their own arrogance Democrats may be powerless to block nominations.

In other words, the Democrats went radical left instead of moving to blue dog centrist.

The House and Senate Leaders both said 8 years ago that our job is to make sure Obama is a one term president. Fours years ago they said our job is to make sure Obama does not get re-elected.
They rubber stamped NO to every bill he approved or proposed
Both major parties are in serious trouble. The independents will pull the strings until the parties rebuild. The GOP will be busy repudiating Trump in the near future unless they want to be forever recognized as the party of the alt right, neo Nazis, KKK, bigotry, and ignorance/denial of fact. The Dems have been asleep at the wheel since Reagan and need to find out where they put their cojones and brass knuckles. They have been spectators and too polite to get into the fray. They forgot that all politics is local.
Having a strong independent center isn't such a bad idea anyway.
They've got one foot in the grave & the other on a banana peel . If they are to survive they better wise up & reconnect with the American people . Their pipedream of a one world pc progressive utopia is totally out of touch with what Americans want . We want our own country & to rule ourselves , not bowing to everything every other country wants .
Which party is more dependent on the demographic groups that are dying off?
The Democrats. Young morons are prone to get jobs and grow up. Then they become Republicans, especially when they realize Democrats are there for one reason - to pick their pockets.
