They are already at their weakest point since the 1920s and they have a unfavorable map in 2018. With them putting Pelosi back, saying "nothing needs to change, blaming everything on Russia, unable to choose whether they want limousine liberals like Pelosi, Reid, or Clinton or far left lunatics like Elizabeth Warren and Keith Ellison and ignoring or shaming moderate, middle of the road democrats, and continuing to double down on identity politics and supporting radical movements like Black Lives Matter, Maybe this party can die off. It will be nothing but a good thing.
no it wont die off, but unless they take the time to truly analyze what has happened to them over the last 5 or so election cycles, and change their approach to elections, they are going to go through some hard and lean times. and if trump steps up and does even 10% of what he promised, and if things get better and move in the right direction, then the democrats are going to become the minority party for a while.
so right now they have a choice, they can obstruct the republicans, and risk losing even more seats across the nation, or they can step up and help move things forward, and then when election time rolls around again, they can claim that they didnt obstruct things, unlike the republicans, and open up opportunities in that manner.

That would be awesome! One party rule with a monarchy! No opposition, no checks, no balances! What a waste that Revolutionary War was, we have an oligarchy now!

Obstructing Democrats didn't hurt Republicans. They spent eight years obstructing then blamed Democrats for the result. Democrats will not benefit from helping Republicans in any way whatsoever. I'm sure there will be times they work together, even though they should never do it. But for the most part, there is no benefit in helping Republicans who would receive all the credit for any upside and would provide cover for Republicans for any negative. That's reality now.

Calm down. You forget the Independents and the Green Party. The Dems can die off, who cares. We still have competition without them. In fact, it would be better for everyone instead of the lying, disgusting Dem party who cries and lies when they don't get their way.

Don't worry, there will always be Jill Stein and the green party.

The "Independents" aren't a party and the Green Party were what, 1% of the vote? What Republicans want is one party rule and it is an oligarchy now. They own it and it will be interesting to watch because there will be no one they can blame for anything that happens for the next four years. It is one party ruling the country with Trump family members and billionaires controlling every aspect of America.
