And you're right: it IS a close call as to who I would prefer to have these jobs. But the UAW workers in America win out over the Mexicans, by a nose.
Shakes head sadly. Too many ideologues both right and left. hating.

Im not union but my car which I love is union made. Being made by a union was a non factor. Being made by an AMERICAN who might some day buy from me, IS.

Very true, 10% seems to be a commonly quoted number of American jobs dependent on the auto industry.

But, if we all wind up paying more for many consumer products due to tariffs while getting no correspondent increase in income, what then?

I think many simplistic plans are proposed to solve complex issues with none likely to be the real solution.

Working at Ford probably pays better than those McDonalds or Taco shack mall jobs. It's not so much the amount but the kind of jobs.

More jobs after the recession have been low paying service jobs. The kind of jobs you still need welfare with. Not exactly the American Dream.

I'd like to ask a question I make no claim to having an answer to.

There may be 2 different answers but long and short term: What benefits America the most, buying say a HONDA made by an American in Ohio or buying a Ford made by a Mexican in Mexico? What wins out, the American worker or American corporate profit?

I really want to hear this answer. You make an extremely good point.

I have to admit, it's nice to see a President work on securing their re-election so early. They don't usually do something for the people until the 4th quarter.

What do you all think on the right? He'll have 2020 sewn up before the inauguration, right? lol

Excuse me while I go wash my hands in a basin full of liberal tears.

Or the American consumer with cheaper cars.
