Because it makes the administration look as if it has something to hide. I'm telling you, the whole "press as mortal enemy" approach is going to come back to bite Trump. If the White House restricts the flow of information, the press will double-down on digging up whatever will earn them viewers, and they're going to look to Trump rather than the issues. You may think that it's a Twitter world, but a good part of this country still gets its news from tradition media and is influenced accordingly. Trump really does not want to alienate the White House press corps. He needs to extend an olive branch, and the sooner the better.

The press corp is the eyes and ears of the American Citizens. If they aren't able to access the president, how do we know what is going on? Are we to get reports only from Trump's people and just trust them that it's true ? This would be pure propoganda. Kind of like the blank sheets of paper that were inside the blank manilla folders at the press conference. It's a facade and the citizens are left in the dark trying to guess what is going on.

in a normal situation i would agree with you, however these are not normal situations. the public has rejected the media's attempt to smear trump in the extreme, and voted him into office. if the media continues to attack him, they will find themselves more and more on the outs with the american people.

true enough, however in this case the media discredited themselves by being a huge ad campaign for hillary. they have also been discrediting themselves for decades by almost exclusively supporting the democrats in every election cycle.

i am all for a free press, but the press also has a responsibility to report honestly and fairly. you cant openly support one candidate over another, constantly, and expect the american people to constantly take you seriously.

I'm pretty sure the Press is discrediting themselves. It's time for them to prove themselves worthy.

Agree with you in spirit. And, ideally, this is how things work. But when you have a press corp that is so corrupt and anti-Trump (or any politician), I'm OK with changing up the rules somewhat. They've already changed up the rules by not being impartial. Why should the White House have to put up with a corp that is hellbent on bringing down a presidency/making a president look terrible?

Liberals are upset that the news corp won't be able to create more Fake News to keep them happy...
