If the democrats use of the nuclear option was so successful at stacking the courts then why do we have 100 federal court vacancies along with some cabinets.
There are about 200 federal court vacancies at this time. Obama was limited to about 100 appointments, as Republicans stalled filling seats once they took power. This in response to Democrats going Nuclear, and not allowing traditional consultation with state Senators. Obama wanted it his way only, once Republicans came to power, neither side would agree. Obama nuked the bridges with the Republican party in his first few days in office, and never made any sincere attempt to fix them. Democrats are reaping what they sowed.

You are right there are probably closer to 200 federal court vacancies, many go back to 2008-2010 and the nuclear option was in 2013. Mitch McConnell primary intention from day one of the Obama administration was to defeat a popular president and obstruct him in every way. Like I stated Federal Court appointments were also delayed under Bush but when Obama took office it went to new level. You even had some senators rejecting their own recommendations just to obstruct, one judgeship was vacant for 15 years. The republicans use the filibuster to the point of dysfunction, that is why they used the nuclear option, go back and look at what transpired in 2011, 2012.

The Republicans did not want to cede power in the DC Circuit or the NLRB, they thought they could delay everything until they won in 2012 and then Obama won, that's when they went to the next level.

Upon first meeting with President Obama, Republicans were told elections have consequences, Democrats won, Republicans could get on the back or the bus or not. Democrats would do as they wished.

The first assault was from Obama and more generally Democrats. Appointment of Rahm Emanuel as chief of staff, put the most partisan Democrat in recent history, in charge of the White House. Animus between Democrats and Republicans was inevitable. You recall what McConnell said, do you recall anything Obama said to provoke his comment?

Republicans retaliated against Democrats after they attained power, due to the soured relationship initiated by Obama. Obama wanted Chicago style Democrat rule nationally, and almost got it. Only stalwart Republicans stood in his way to political hegemony.
