States can still put money in the pot. No services have been terminated. People are free to still get whatever services they need.
Nope, lots of red states will terminate it, and that means a massive number of low income folks with unwanted pregnancies and all the social problems that follow which the entire country will suffer from, not just the regressive states in question.
If you truly care about low-income access to abortion, then pay for it out of pocket. Make it happen.
No tax dollars pay for abortions.
However, I do care about low income people getting birth control and getting tested for STD's, and getting basic reproductive healthcare. I think these are worthwhile endeavors that are good for society as a whole. But I totally understand that some people in our society don't want poor people to get any kind of healthcare.
While I think this is truly terrible, the net result will be worse health care for women and more unwanted pregnancies in those states, which will increase the poverty level and increase social costs for those states. If Republicans want to turn the country into this sort of social experiment, then by all means, let's take the 50 individual states at their word and let each state contribute a flat percentage to national security and leave it at that. No more blue state funds going to red states and let the red states turn their societies into "The Handmaid's Tale".
i agree. It is time each state is forced to live within its means. perhaps some states could reach agreements with each others, like we currently do for 3rd level ed.
why should we continue to pay for states that don't support their down trodden and instead use the money we give them to enrich their top tiers?
If one thinks this is a problem now, imagine how much worse it can be with no services preventing it. It's fine, evangelicals want a scalp and now the states can fund the increase but don't complain later when these unplanned children that make the very poor parents even more poor.
check the stats mate that happen much more in states that do everything they can to avoid giving help to low income americans. In states that support and care, the rates are much lower. there are mile high piles of data that prove this, not only in the USA but across the globe.
