I think in a case like this, when the student has reached legal age, regardless of the gender of those involved, the correct action is to just fire the teacher and let it go at that.
It is illegal for a teacher to have sex with their students. As for the punishment you are talking what should happen. I am talking what would happen. A man would go to jail in the same circumstance. Women almost always get a pass.

Last year I think it was a female nurse in NY was arrested on felony charges for taking and then distributing photos of male patient penises without their permission. A male nurse would have gone to jail on those felony charges if the patient were a woman and he took photos of her vagina or breasts. In that case the judge settled for her giving up her nursing license.

There is a double standard when it comes to sexual misconduct.

I agree that the nurse should have received a harsher punishment. That is a gross violation of trust and invasion of privacy.

I'm not sure I agree with you about women always getting a pass. That may be true in cases of predatory behavior, but it surely is not true in many other instances. There are many other areas in which it is men who get a free pass. I don't want to open that can of worms, because it would take us far, far from the original topic of the thread.

Frankly, I would like to see double standards of all varieties just go away.

Prepubescent? Sounds like they had hair around their balls.
Hate to say, that is just underage sex, by statutory law.
Pedophilia, is sex with prepubescent children.
