The homeowner said he arrived at the home, one of at least two that he owns in the Belfair, Washington area, at around 8 a.m. and noticed that a door had been kicked in, according to police.
The homeowner went inside and exchanged words with Rosa, who was in the shower, at the time, police said. The homeowner left the premises, without calling the police, and returned with a firearm, police said.
"He returned home, retrieved a firearm, came back over to the residence and fired multiple rounds into the shower ... killing the intruder," Mason County Sheriff's Lt. Travis Adams told ABC affiliate KOMO.
The fact that he left and then returned with a gun, without calling the police, and then shot the guy is why he was arrested. But you already alluded to that. I just threw in to try to help tamp down the stupid that will soon appear.

That's the way I see it. I support your right to protect yourself. This guy wasn't protecting himself.
It doesn't even sound like he lives in that home because the article said the home was "one of two that he owned in the area". This could be a situation of a squatter that moved into the home or maybe someone that had lived with a person on the lease at that propery. In these cases there are legal remedies to remove the person from the home and you cannot even go in there and remove their belongings or physically force them out and certainly no right to shoot them.
For example, if the landlord was leasing to John Smith but John Smith brought in a roommate but didn't tell the landlord. Then John Smith moves out but the roommate stays behind. In this case the landlord has to legally get rid of the former roommate and cannot kick them out immediately. Same with a squatter.
I guess the land lord was defending his need to minimize his water bill. Hell, the physical cleanup will cost him more then just telling the guy to leave. The legal cleanup will cost a whole hell of a lot more.
