Several candidates are being considered to replace Comey, a senior White House official said, including Mike Rogers, a former Republican representative; Trey Gowdy, a Republican representative and former federal prosecutor; Alice Fisher, assistant attorney general in the George W. Bush administration; and Ray Kelly, former commissioner of the New York Police Department.
If he nominates Trey Gowdy all he does is hasten his own end. Picking a political hack is a very bad move. Hence I will not be surprised if he does it.
If Trump and the Republicans install him as FBI Director, the Russian investigation will turn into a leak investigation.
Please. You don't like Gowdy because he is effective. He is an excellent investigator (as a former prosecutor who never lost a single case). He asks the questions no one else will ask, but should. He is relentless in his pursuit of truth, and doesn't let anyone under questioning avoid answering with political rhetoric as others do. He demands a "yes" or a "no" when that is all a question requires.
Apparently a "weasel" by your definition is anyone who demands honesty.

Effective? What did he accomplish with the IRS investigation? Nothing.

He allowed Lois Lerner to get away.

Again I have to note.......Trey Gowdy, the guy that wasted millions on an IRS investigation and did absolutely nothing about it. Nothing.
He deserves to be defeated for his waste of tax payers money.
So, you think the investigation of the IRS was unwarranted? People being targeted because of their political views?
Was it Gowdy's sole responsibility to remedy the problem? Gowdy led an effective investigation (and to my knowledge, it isn't over).
The waste of money is the current investigation into alleged Russian interference in the election and alleged Trump collusion with Russian operatives, with zero evidence found thus far, no evidence to support the allegations in the first place, but ordered by an outgoing President to help Hillary, who made the charge during her failing campaign, hoping to discredit her opponent. But you're totally on-board with that, I assume?
Trey Gowdy is the sharpest guy in congress this would be a great move!
Absolutely! The only reason I would have to be against it is that he is so effective where he is, and I would hate to see him leave Congress. He is irreplaceable.
