I don't think Americans understand how to compromise. They're always screaming at each other instead.

There were times in the lead up and aftermath of the election when I felt like we could only resolve things with a civil war where one side won a decisive victory. I blame yellow journalism on both sides for a lot of the histrionics.

People need to recognize that liberals and conservatives perform different roles in society that are complementary, not antagonistic. Liberals try out new things and conservatives figure out which new things are bad ideas.

Conservatives need to recognize that change is necessary to survive, and that an unchanging society is a dying society. Liberals need to recognize that most new ideas are bad or unworkable ideas, and some problems are intractable right now and we have to punt on them.

That is your take and speaks to your mindset. I must admit, I am noticing blacks hatred towards me now in general. I have had numerous negative experiences with black people I never had before. Experiences in everyday life. Racial hatred is heating up.

No.
I have more friends who disagree with my politics than those who agree with me. Some are the oldest friends I have, and with some of them, I just won't go there.

Friends are more important to me than politics, and politics is only a small part of all the things that make my friends the people I care for.

I firmly believe in the need for opposing views. That's what keeps a democracy strong and resistant to the few weaknesses that can destroy a democracy.

I also believe that when done the right way, with some personal respect and the recognition that different people can honestly hold different views that are equally legitimate, people can discuss politics without having a fight over the subject.

If that respect isn't there, then it's always my option as to whether I choose to engage or not with someone else. Disagreement for me doesn't generate ill will when it's honest, but I don't like pendants or liars.

But it's still my choice if I engage with them or not. it always takes 2 to make a fight.

Perhaps you're just not a likable person. Hell, look at all the anti black invective you spew around here. Why would they like you? At least they haven't smacked the taste outta your mouth yet.

So don't take it personally.

As a person who voted against Obama twice, I would never wish harm towards him.

I don't hate people I politically disagree with. But it sure appears there are people that really do hate.
