The slippery slope the GOP is grasping for goes along the lines:

Trump didn't place a gun in Comey's mouth and say "I will blow your brains out if you don't end the investigation."

That to the GOP constitutes a clear message.

What Trump actually said merely constituted as a "suggestion" or "hint".

Here is the problem with that line of reasoning.

Comey will be asked if he understood what Trump wanted him to do.

and,

If Comey says it was clear what Trump wanted him to do....then Trump attempted to obstruct justice and was meddling.

Trump is done. He managed to destroy his presidency in less than six months. Remarkable actually when you consider how many intelligent people around him that he had to ignore in order to make that happen...

I just started to wonder if Trump is trying to get himself impeached as a way out without quitting.

Looking at the entire picture: He did not expect to win the presidency--no one was more surprised than him. He's not suited for the job, he admitted it's a lot more work than he imagined. He didn't even know the total scope of the job, which he told to a couple people. Remember his shell-shocked look after his first visit to the WH? He did not look happy; in fact, he looked miserable in those photos.

His longtime friends don't think he's happy and while he wanted the attention and spotlight and all of that, the actual running the country and governing part, not so much. He truly doesn't know what he's doing and is fundamentally and temperamentally unsuited. And that doesn't even touch his ties with certain governments, thin skin, and a long list of other traits that should give everyone pause.

It's not about party alignment and politics. This is a guy who doesn't really want the job and is totally in the wrong job and is miserable, along with not being a good fit. If Trump were a new employee at any company he'd have been fired in the first 90 days with this kind of behavior.

I'm sure Trump supporters will deny and call any and all reports "fake" and part of some conspiracy. I wonder if they think Richard Nixon's crimes were all made up too?

You can't wait either?

Well I predict Trump will suddenly fall gravely ill and go for the sympathy route.

He will accuse White House staff of poisoning a chicken salad served at lunch on Thursday.

That, or Claude Taylor and his imaginary indictments will prove real and Trump will be served.

Will that be real enough for you?

He needs to be impeached as soon as possible.
True. All I would say about Pence is that at least he has had experience as a politician, but some his views are bad news. Pence has covered for or backed Drumpf at times, too. It would be best if it turned out that they would ALL be thrown out - if only possible. It was not good from the beginning ...we need a "do-over".

The earliest do-over is in 3 years. Additionally, you may dislike him-but if Pence replaces Trump, it is unquestionable you will see a huge increase in discipline. I also would expect a number of Cabinet positions to suddenly decide they need "more time with families" and resign, followed by more conventional appointments.

I hope he keeps Mattis and McMaster, though. Those dudes are in the right jobs, respectively.
