A handful of college students, the majority of the graduates stayed seated to listen, get up from their seats and leave the auditorium in protest of Pence and this makes the national news? Why?

The Press attempts to make every slight of the Trump administration no matter how inconsequential a major deal. The Press embarrasses itself daily with their petty antics.

I would like to applaud those Notre Dame students!

Pence and Trump are not worthy of any type of respect. Respect is earned!

They were expecting about a hundred to walk out. How many actually did?

Bush 41 was the last POTUS who earned respect.

Although he shouldn't have gotten us involved further in the ME, he was overall a good POTUS that tried to do what was right.

And for full disclosure, I supported Gulf War 1. I came to terms later that I was mistaken in that support. I was much younger then and didn't have the wisdom to understand it was the wrong course of action.

Exactly

I have no issue with students who do not want to listen to his speech, though proper decorum dictates they act respectfully. I suspect few will walk out on their own graduation ceremony to protest, especially at a university like ND.

Rest assured if I were a student graduating, and it was Biden or even Obama giving a speech, I'd respectfully sit there and listen. Those words that are uttered will not harm me, and since they took the time to come and address my graduating class, I'd be respectful and not embarrass my university.

Default Pence at Notre Dame and Tolerence

The VP spoke today at the commencement ceremony at Notre Dame and a groups of graduate got up and left to cheers and boos.

Dozens of Notre Dame Students Walk Out of VP Mike Pence Commencement Speech - NBC News

What happened to tolerance, patience and respect?
Like him or not he is still the VP of the United States and it certainly was their right to walk out but one would think that after 4+ years of higher learning that those students would have learned something beyond throwing a tantrum like a child that doesn't like the game that is being played so they leave.

Listening to A right wing radio show a mom called in to chat and she told a story about her very conservative daughter that went to a very liberal university where Elizabeth Warren gave a commencement speech. Did this young woman get up and walk out? No she stayed in her chair and held her nose but she gave Warren the respect that should be forwarded to anyone that is taking the time to make a speech at the ceremony.

I think it is totally ridiculous that those kids walked out on Pence. I wonder if when they enter the work force and their boss tells them something they do not like if they will walk off the job and seek out a safe space?

What a bunch of rude brats to walk out and not even be able to listen to what may be an opposing view. So much for debate in higher learning.

They are adults. They have the right to express themselves in such a manner if they choose.

Norte Dame has the right to kick them off campus if they are being disruptive as well.

I agree with OP. These kids believe they are more important to get their 5 min of fame by making a statement. Hopefully their faces are fully seen on what is the forever internet and any employer is free to hire or deny to hire a person based on social media and what the persons actions are as that has nothing to do with race, religion or sexual preference.

Typical.

Exactly. Sorry for you, OP, but we're still in America. We still have certain rights.
