I as well do not want PR as a newly minted State to be able to demand that the US become officially bilingual, expecting the rest of us to do everything in two languages such as occurs in Canada.
If Puerto Rico became a state, then we can finally have foreign ships dock at OUR port, and not go to Miami, only to go back to Puerto Rico. What sense does that make? That's one of the biggest reasons why Puerto Rico's economy is bad. The other is that Congress ended the tax breaks it gave companies who relocated to PR that otherwise would have gone to another country

of course is not about race or elitism.......LMAO!!!!
You can't even pull a race argument and pretend to be a discriminated racial minority.

As we have already pointed out several times, most Puerto Ricans are white (75% +) and the island is actually whiter than the mainland.

People aren't keen on integrating puerto rico in the U.S because of its tremendous economic and social problems. Puerto Rico as a state wouldn't be strengthening us a nation, it would be a burden that adds to the problems we already have here.

and how to you enforce prohibiting Americans speaking other languages anywhere? this is how clueless you sound.
Even though there are no laws, in practice it wouldn't be allowed to happen. That why they don't speak French in Louisiana anymore. As soon as PR became a state, the language of instruction in all public schools would be English. Period.

How about you just become independent, and then you can speak all the Spanish you want and not have to worry about it? Problem solved.

Puerto Ricans are not ANGLO WHITE.....there is a difference which you have no clue about. If Puerto Rico was a U.S. territory with 3.4 million anglo white U.S. Citizens, you think we would be having this topic?

Puerto Rico is ALREADY the federal government's problem DUH!!! It has been a U.S. Territory under full federal jurisdiction for over a century.....giving them representation and state sovereignty won't make matters worse but give them the tools and power to fix their economy.

Puerto Rico is already our problem, it has been under U.S. Flag for over 1 century......you been under a rock for a century and now woke up?

all 37 territories that are states today, their economies went up because they got the sovereignty and representation so they could handle their affairs......that's the difference between state and territory. That's the reason 37 territories wanted statehood and got it........comprende?

White is white. Polish people, Italians, and German-Americans are not "Anglos", but they are still white. Why would Spanish people not be?

Spanish descendants are white. They are not racial minorities, "people of color", nothing.

You can't masquerade as "people of color", and cry racism because your name is Spanish. You have no legitimate race card to play.

what???? I swear to GOD, I never heard such ignorance in 1 topic.

there is NO federal law that can control what the locals want to teach in Public or private schools.....if the local board of education want to have a BILINGUAL school in their districts there is NO federal law or government politician that can stop that.

there is no law that can stop anyone of speaking a language in public or in their privacy of their homes or wanting to become bilingual. In this global economy that is a must not a negative.

Puerto Rico doesn't need to be Independent to speak spanish or preserve the spanish language and their culture.....Puerto Rico has been a U.S. TERRITORY under the American flag for over 1 century and that didn't stop them of speaking spanish or the federal government having issues with that.

you know that in many states and cities they speak multi-languages don't you?.....most of the cities and towns in California are in Spanish, don't you?.....another one who has been in a coma for the past decades.

That's a scam they pulled off so that they could get their hands on the federal funding that was meant for black people and become affirmative action beneficiaries.

I'm completely aware of the history of my own country, especially the fact, that most Puerto Ricans and other Latin Americans were not considered to be minorities at all before the 1980s. Before they became "hispanics", they were just white.

All "hispanic" claims of victimhood are fake. They never went through that.

so if Puerto Ricans were never a minority group in the U.S., they were consider part of the majority group?

I wonder why Puerto Rico after 1 century under U.S. Rule don't have representation over the laws that governs them....it must be because they are part of the majority group in the U.S.....LOL

definition of a miniroty group: A subordinate group whose members have significantly less control or power over their lives than members of a dominant or majority ..........sounds like Puerto Rico to me, Sherlock!

Another clueless topic by you.....and the hits just keep on coming!
