And it backfires horribly.

Elizabeth Banks Calls Out Steven Spielberg: 'He's Never Made a Movie With a Female Lead'

basically she tried to call out Steven Spielberg because she says he never had a movie with a female lead. Twitter and most specifically black twitter (there's a black twitter???...did it for you) quickly and repeatedly reminds her that Spielberg had The Color Purple which is considered by many to be a classic. The movie starred Whoopi Goldberg and Oprah.

Also some other lady got fried because she tried to call The Color Purple a flop. It was nominated for like 11 Oscars.

I guess this is when trying to be a victim goes wrong.

Yeah, and we really don't know what gender that shark was in Jaws.

Either Banks didn't do her research, is stupid, or to her The Color Purple doesn't count. It is a great movie.

Banks has played some skeevy roles, not empowering enough?

She's not wrong in theory, maybe who she directed her comment to. Spielberg released The Color Purple and War Horse which had women in major roles.

Weren't all the dinosaurs bred in Jurassic Park female until "nature found a way" (Who would've guessed gender roles were apparently artificial for dinosaurs too)?

She's a rather self-important little idiot now isn't she.

Hey look, I won and acting award. Let me now take this moment to show you why I'm largely uneducated and too lazy to do a 30 second IMDB search before insulting one of the most famous directors in Hollywood history.
