So? States need to start pulling their own weight.

How much more.
As wealthy as they were in 2012 before investment income taxes were increased. What about those wealthy making 200K household income, are they going to be much wealthier. And those families who couldn't afford health insurance so were taxed hundreds of dollars a year.
At least 2.5% if the Medical Device tax is lifted (if you needed these items) and $695 per person (but no more than $2,085 per family) if the ACA penalties are dropped (if you choose not to have medical insurance)
I'm sure there's more but I'm not going to get into the weeds.
It's been obvious for quite some time Republicans don't support Americans. Dems making it more obvious won't help.
But Democrats actually going on record as wanting our healthcare to be equal to the rest of the civilized world would help. They have not done this yet. Actually taking the stance that they support some form of universal healthcare would differentiate them from the GOP, who have proven yet again that they care nothing about ordinary Americans.
The time is ripe for the Democrats if they have the courage to take the initiative here.
I'm not the one who said 'giving'. Take up your argument with whoever said that.
3.8% on a billionaires oncome is a hell of a lot of money.
You understand how percentages work right?
Yes. But why should a billionaire pay that much in Fed tax anyway? How much in Fed Gov services is that one person using? Certainly nowhere near as much as he's paying in taxes. Why should he massively overpay for exactly the same access to government benefits/services that 47% of tax filers get for free? Whatever happened to the Constitution's equal protection clause? If others get Fed Gov services/benefits for free, why can't he?

This bill nothing to do with sales tax
The sales tax was used as an example to show that a tax cut doesn't give anyone money. It just takes less of the money that person already had.
If federal $ to states for medicaid is cut perhaps the states will take the hint to be more responsible in spending their medicaid dollars to ensure that only the ones who need it (or are legal) get it. And they might be more apt to seek out and prosecute fraud when it isn't an endless stream of $ coming from the fed.

The senate bill is basically Obamacare with tax breaks for the rich and a repeal of Medicaid.
