There was no announcement at the clerk reunion, so speculation is that he's not stepping down.

I Trump is able to appoint two more conservative Supreme Court justices, he may just surpass Ronald Reagan as the most beloved Republican President in history.

Read the OP. There was never any indication the announcement or expectation that it would be at the reunion.

Do you have a link where he has said he is going to retire? All I saw is people wondering if he will because the term is ending and the 80 year old thing.

Here's one. Maybe he will, maybe he won't. A whole lotta people speculating. He hasn't said officially that he is even going to retire at all, so wait and see. Is Anthony Kennedy getting ready to announce his retirement from the Supreme Court?

It's all rumors at this point. It's being said that some of his clerks have heard him discussing retirement. Regardless, those in their 80 aren't going to be there much longer one way or another. Ginsburg is in her mid 80s and doesn't appear to be in the best of health. How much longer can she hang on? Another 4 years? I doubt it.

Bingo. Get several in their 80s, and odds are, one or two won't last much longer. As their health fails, at some point, they simply can't function enough to work. Not wishing it, but it is inevitable.

Well, you see, his second term would be begin in 2021 and end in 2025.

Sigh. I am completely aware of how the timeline would go should he win reelection. I was just wondering why there was the need to phrase it so oddly (though I have an idea based on previous posts):

"Trump isn't going anywhere. He will be President in 2020, and most likely 2024. Better get used to it."

Why mention "most likely 2024" when the natural structure of a 2020 presidency would include that year?

This was my #1 reason for voting Trump!!! I want a conservative court. I want Kennedy gone. He is a swing vote. I hope RBG is next.
