As far as I am concerned they are one and the same. They just call their God something different. Posters on this forum are always screaming about how Muslims want to impose Sharia law on us, but what about all the Talibangelicals who are always trying to impose their fundamentalist brand of Christianity on us? Posters are always babbling about how the Koran says this or that ... but what about the Christian fundamentalists like Ted Cruz who think that the Bible should dictate government policy?

Quote:
"Mark my word, if and when these preachers get control of the Republican Party, and they're sure trying to do so, it's going to be a terrible damn problem. Frankly, these people frighten me. Politics and governing demand compromise. But these Christians believe they are acting in the name of God, so they can't and won't compromise. I know, I've tried to deal with them" - Barry M Goldwater
Goldwater was right. The American Right has been hijacked by Christian fundamentalists.

You have the right to hold all the extreme views you wish. That's the beauty of our Constitution.

I believe it is the fascist left who are the same as terrorists. They are the ones rioting, burning, harming, killing; because they are so tolerant.

BTW: "I am a conservative Republican, but I believe in democracy and the separation of church and state. The conservative movement is founded on the simple tenet that people have the right to live life as they please as long as they don't hurt anyone else in the process." -Barry Goldwater

Something the angry left is doing daily.

If you're going to quote Goldwater you may as well put his entire view into context, and not just a snippet that fits your meme.

It's the same as the difference between Stalin and the American left.

"As far as I am concerned they are one and the same."

Then you are a fool.

Fundamentalist Christians say convert to get into heaven

Fundamentalist Islamists say convert or we will kill you.

And you don't see a difference?

Yes, but the number of Christian extremists are extremely low while the number of Islamic extremists is much much higher.

You also have a number of hate filled atheists.

When you have some extreme animosity to a group of people, you are rarely level headed in thought.

Honestly? Except for their love of theocracy there is a huge difference. Get back to me when fundamentalist American Christians start strapping bombs on themselves and blowing up innocent people. With the few exceptions of killing in the name of anti abortion activities the fundie Christian righties in America bear very little resemblance to their Islamic counter parts. When was the last time you saw a news story about any fundamentalist sect blowing up the church of a differing fundamentalist sect's church here in America. This is not to say that fundamentalism isn't a threat to progress for any society, but here in America there are still well established means and methods to fight back such nonsense. They might not always move as quickly as some would wish but they do move without the level of violence seen elsewhere in the world.

I don't hear too many hate filled atheists on this forum - leave us out of this debate!

What I do not like about Islamic/Muslims is that the religion is a lifetime commitment and they have no humor. You cannot mock your religion without death threats. You also cannot say: I have enough; I quit - or they will come after you. It is almost like Scientology - but they will not throw you out a window or behead you!

There are still plenty of Christian extremists; which I do not agree with. I was a Christian in my younger years before I grew up. I do believe that everybody is entitled to their own beliefs - as long as they do not force those beliefs on everybody else.
