Obama administration tried to reset relations with Russia. Putin is not interested in "resetting." He is interested in destabilizing.
To be a fly on the wall when Trump realizes he's merely a subordinate in the Putin, Trump, Farage, Le Pen, Wilders syndicate with Daddy Vladdy having absolutely no interests other than undermining the influence and strength of the respective countries of his vassal operatives in the furtherance of his objective to tilt global leadership to Moscow.

The diplomatic compounds in New York and Maryland, which were believed to be used by Russian intelligence against the United States, were shut down Dec. 29 by former President Barack Obama, who declared 35 Russian operatives "persona non grata" and forced them to leave the country.
It was reported in late May that President Donald Trump is mulling returning the two compounds to the Russians, despite the ongoing probe into his campaign's potential ties to the Kremlin.
The move to close the two compounds was one of the punitive measures taken by the Obama administration in 2016 in response to Russia's election interference.

It's not 1944 anymore. Germany today is a prosperous, democratic society like all of Western Europe ... the opposite of Trump's beloved autocratic Russia.
