Well, that depends on your associations, don't it?
I assure you, it smells darn good to me. And when I catch a whiff of it in public, I just grin to myself. Smells like someone is having a good day - not to mention it smells like freedom to this person who remembers paranoia.
Just as with those who chain smoke cigarettes, I'd rather be around someone who chit their pants or hasn't showered for a week. Be that as it may, it's their business. If they want to smell that way, so what? Not my business, right, or responsibility to tell anyone what they can and can't do when it comes to personal habits and hygiene. Liberty sometimes stinks (speaking in the literal here).
The legalization of marijuana as one of the biggest most successful drives for capitalism and entrepreneurship in recent American history second only to the tech boom.
I'd like to tax alcohol so high no one will be able to afford it, and make pot legal and cheap.
Drunks can be mean and aggressive. Bar fights, gang violence, etc. Pot smokers tend to want to just relax and eat listening to good music. No desire to go fight or cause trouble.
And I'm a conservative in their 50's.
You're right, except for the tax part, that wouldn't work. What we are seeing now with cannabis (where it's legal) is that out of control taxes keeps the black market functioning. We still need to find the right tax point so that the black market just doesn't make enough profit to make it worth the risk.
I think the same thing would occur with alcohol. The higher the tax, the more prevalent moonshine would be.
Just think, soon there will be drunken people all over the place, and prostitution! I bet gambling and other risky behaviours too!
Hooooey! We're goin' to hell in a handbasket with all this sippin' and a-smokin' and that der fornicatin' ... not to mention them debbil games of chance!
"Great civilizations rise and great civilizations fall" We are doomed to repeat history should we not study and learn from it. We have not done that so get ready for the barbarians.

Huh? What does that have to do with the legalization of marijuana?
It's a shame, I love visiting Vegas, and now I won't be able to go anywhere without smelling someone smoking horse s**t.
They can not smoke in the streets. Can't smoke in the casinos. They will have to smoke in their cars, feel bad for the rental car companies. But I'm sure they have something in place, fines etc. Of course they can smoke in their homes.
In fact when it went legal, the shops didn't have the huge crowds like they thought.
I have a friend who owns a shop. They don't smoke it.
I am betting most of what will sell will be edibles or oils.
