Sorry but I think whenever organizations like the NAACP extend an offer to Trump, it's not out of sincerity or good intentions, but simply to make him look bad.
If Trump had accepted and gone, they would have made him feel uncomfortable, try to make him look bad, and treat him with contempt (as happened when he visited the church).
But since Trump declined, now the NAACP can crow, look, Trump's a 'racist' and not sincere about reaching out to the black community.
Total lose/lose situation for Trump.
Fair enough. Being objective, I could see why he didn't want to go LOL.
I imagine he'll catch some flak for it, which I guess is also understandable. But do agree it is lose/lose either way.
There's no scheduling conflict. The President, Vice President, all presidential candidates (Trump declined last year as well) are invited to speak at the NAACP Conference every single year. Just like any convention, it's scheduled 12-18 months in advance. 2018 will be in San Antonio - Trump should check his mailbox for the invitation. But then again, this is the administration that had to crash at the embassy in Hamburg because nobody made hotel reservations for the G20.
Reagan and W (as well as HW, McCain, Romney) accepted invitations to speak at the NAACP convention as knowing full well they would receive a cool reception. At least they all had the intestinal fortitude to go in front of a crowd that didn't like them.

who cares about the NAACP, they are all democrats that want a big welfare state and expand liberal policies.
National Association for the Advancement of Colored People........just the name alone sounds bad.....its about time a President says NO to this organization and stops pandering to them..........what's next La Raza convention and the President has to bend the knee.
Trump declines invitation to speak at NAACP convention
So what??
But he probably wouldn't decline an invite to speak at KKK convention. BO would decline and would speak at NAACP, so would bush and clinton I would have thought. He's running scared. Poor sap, I say.

I'm sure you are thrilled you don't have dark skin.
While I understand that Trump is in no way obligated to attend the NAACP convention....What kind of message is that supposed to send?
Trump gave a 28 minute speech at the NRA convention in April.....he couldn't make a quick appearance at the NAACP convention?
the NRA is to protect the 2nd Amendment of the Constitution.
What does the NAACP stands for? National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.
Unless the constitution favors the advancement of colored people over other Americans, you are mixing apples and oranges here.
the NRA doesn't divide people by color or races....its about the 2nd amendment......the NAACP on the other hand divides people by races and want favoritism based on race......all Presidents should skip that.
I'm sure you are thrilled you don't have dark skin.
my skin is dark especially when I go tanning......I'm Hispanic- American and I say the same thing for La Raza, UNIDOS and any identity political group.
We are all Americans or we are going continue to slice everybody into racial groups to push more bad progressive policies in the government.
