On Tuesday July 18, the House unveiled a budget plan with cuts to Social Security and Medicare.

Here is the link: House GOP budget slashes billions in spending - CNNPolitics.com

I called my congressman's office and told him that I thought that these cuts are insane. This is currently in the House. They mean to get their tax cut for the wealthy through no matter who they injure.

Stop them cold. Call your congressional representative today.

We knew it was coming.

Republicans probably figured they best get moving as Trump's days are numbered and he's their albatross.

Unsurprising. Why have a 200 foot yacht when you can cut a few hundred thousand poor people and have a 400 foot yacht.

This is not a helpful thread.

The linked article makes no mention of cuts to Social Security.

As for Medicare:

Quote:
The budget also proposes major changes to Medicare, suggesting that the government program model itself on the Medicare Advantage program that offers better benefits to seniors who pay a premium. It suggests that traditional Medicare would still be an option.
But yes, the budget does call for cutting mandatory spending on social welfare programs while increasing military spending.

This bill may make it out of the House, but will probably die in the Senate. All in all, it sounds like it was crafted to allow future campaign radio advertisements - Democrat candidate Bob McNasty wants to give all your tax dollars away, but your Congressman Doug Doright voted to end such give aways.

I will be collecting social security benefits next year when I turn 70 so of course your post caught my eye.

For the life of me I can't see where they are planning to cut my social security benefit.

Can you point it out for me?

TIA.

People read the article before posting!

Otherwise it's a waste of time discussing it without all the facts.
