it is for baseball games and NASCAR races, and I've seen it on Monday Night Football for years.
And around here in Baltimore, we yell out "O's" when they get to the "Oh, say, can you see" part. A bit disrespectful maybe, but the anthem was written here... lol

Considering the context of when that statement was made, it's very clear he is talking about treatment of black people by police. You're welcome to disagree with his statement, think there is no "there" there, or think it is a bad way to go about it - but it's very obvious what he is talking about.

He made it to post-game highlights, but I don't remember a single game last season which televised the anthem. The broadcast begins at 1PM at kick-off, which is after the anthem. Yesterday was different since they anticipated something to happen after Trumps speech in Friday. They were correct.
