Yet again, alcohol causing people to act stupid.

An American tourist in Germany was beaten up by a passer-by after he began giving the Nazi salute outside a cafe in Dresden, police said Sunday.

The incident occurred about 8:15 a.m. Saturday as the man left a cafe called Europe in the Neustadt district of Dresden, police said in a statement. The district is known to be a liberal part of the town and a popular meeting spot for students.

What a moron. Hope he learned his lesson. Good work stranger who kicked his ass

Blaming alcohol is kind of silly. I enjoy beer, and have never given a Nazi solute. The American was a victim of his own ignorance and stupidity. As a result, he has no one to blame but himself.

Note that this happened at eight o'clock in the morning.

He was still falling down drunk . from the night before.

STILL boorish behaviour . The fact that a passerby smacked him in the face... says just how most Germans feel about the Nazi history . In Germany it is a federal criminal offence to wear any Nazi emblems, to use the Nazi salute, or to deny the Holocaust.

He got what he deserved.

XXX.

Hmmmm..... the illness that is Liberalism seems to be contagious and is now breaking out in Germany.

SO what if the guy gave a nazi salute? Does he deserve to beat up by a member of the party of diversity and acceptance?

What is wrong with these liberals who jump to violence instead of talking it out?
It sounds like the "nazi" guy was acting in an insensitive way and maybe needed an education as to why it is not appropriate to salute like Hitler in Dresden.

Why are so many people so ready to jump to anger when they see something they don't like?

He did get educated though....

It's what the world expects from Americans, and when you actually see it in person I guess it strikes a special nerve or something, I dunno.

That kid in North Korea did something much less offensive and he ended up paying for it with his life...it goes to show you what a lack of cultural sensitivity can get you.

Their country, their people, their laws, etc. When you step foot into another sovereign nation, you should be polite and respectful, as if you are representing your own country and people.

If someone needs an education as to why they shouldn't do a Nazi salute in Germany, they're too stupid to be walking around. Or perhaps the guy is an actual Nazi.

I wouldn't personally hit anybody, but I also wouldn't lose any sleep over a Nazi getting punched.

Sometimes. It took a great deal of violence to bring down the Nazis. In the end, Germany and the world learned many valuable lessons.

Violence hopefully taught this foolish tourist a valuable lesson. Don't go into other people's countries and insult them. If you do, I certainly won't feel sorry for you. It could have been handled differently, yes. But still, if you are a stranger in someone elses country, have some respect or leave.

Violence for the sake of being violent is wrong, but that's different.

That is what I was asking.

Did the guy deserve to get beat up? The kid in NK certainly didn't deserve to die for taking down a propaganda poster in his hotel room.

We do need to respect the culture of countries that we visit but I would rather see education over a beating for a mistake that was made by a stupid tourist that should have known better.

Of course being drunk in public is stupid and that would anger me more then some stupid salute. I wonder if he was being a total a** and if he had given the middle finger salute if he would have been beat up?
