Taxes were brought within this post. If Osteen's taxes are brought into question then the biggest offender of tax evasion, Trump, has to be mention too.
Olsteen lives in a $10 million mansion and makes millions tax-free every year by exploiting the gullible. He is used to conning the peasants (and government) out of their money, not handing them free stuff. That would be socialist!
His own money isn't tax free. I'm not an Osteen follower (he's a heretic), but he does pay taxes, just like anyone else.
Mostly a cash business and tax free status lowers his overhead.
People can deduct their contributions on their taxes so it has to be properly accounted for to do that. Cash or check makes no difference when neither are taxed when gave to the church. (or any non profit)
Church's still have to account for everything. If you show $3 million going out and only $2 million coming in, that is quickly going to throw up red flags.
