I'm not going to dither over the use of a word.

No, we all do not know. No one has assumed anything. People are asking questions.

Are several posters here now openly advocating for door-to-door confiscation? Or no? Just trying to see if that's in the open or not.

Saw this on Twitter:

I'm willing to compromise. The people who want gun control have to be the ones who go around confiscating the guns. Unarmed of course.

And if he didn't have access to those guns, a truck or plane would have been his path of least resistance.

The 911 hijackers would have used an ICBM if they had access to one. Since they didn't, they used planes.

People who want to cause such violence can and will do so even if there were no guns.

In Paris, they used guns that were illegal in France.

Laws won't stop such people and guns don't ensure the highest body counts.

Timothy McVeigh had that same path open to him.

I think the point is motive would still made him find a way.

YES, it is for one of the things I have done over the years is evaluate .22 pistols for survival. One of the parameters is that you have one arm in a sling since that is not outside the realm in a crash situation.

Let me tell you, trying to load a magazine one handed isn't easy.
You would be better off trading the weight of the gun for actual food.

We don't know what the motive was for this guy yet, but to label him a terrorist at this point is not based in any fact.
The words "Terror,Terrorist and Terrorist Attack" have have been tossed around and misused so much, just like "racist" has by the way that the actual meaning and definition of the word(s) has been lost.

For the few here focused on this specific incident - here is a short phone interview with a man staying in a room two floors below the shooter, describing what he heard:

You could experience problems when using a hand held satellite phone when you are:
Indoors (without an external antenna)
Around tall buildings
Heavy Cloud Cover
Under or around trees
If you are close enough to have people hear your gun shots you are better off screaming. Also most people don't know the shot rule that hunters use and would hear gunfire and probably run away from the area.

I don't know how Vegas works, in Maricopa County AZ there are Special Response teams roaming the county pretty much all the time. I'd guess Vegas would be the same especially when there's a high profile event going on.
