So, there is a family history of psychiatric issues (and criminal behavior) in this guy's background.

Also, probably just a coincidence, but when his Father was caught the first time around (before he escaped from prison), he was arrested and jailed in Las Vegas. And, when he was found many years ago, the father was working as the manager of a Bingo parlor in Oregon -- kind of an ironic twist to this very tragic event.

(The above information comes from a Newsweek article, but has also been mentioned on other media reports this morning. The shooter's brother has confirmed that the information about his father being a bank robber.)

More information about the killer's father's criminal past:

Eric, the brother of Las Vegas shooter Stephen Paddock, who killed at least 50 people from his hotel room at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino late Sunday, told the Orlando Sentinel that their father was Benjamin Hoskins Paddock.

The elder Paddock, born in Wisconsin in 1926, had a host of other fake names and nicknames, including “Big Daddy” and “Old Baldy," and was on the FBI’s Top Ten Most Wanted list from 1969 to 1977.

Paddock was indicted in 1960 on three counts of robbing Phoenix branches of Valley National Bank, the Arizona Republic reported on Oct. 6 that year. He was accused of stealing close to $25,000 and was caught in the summer of 1960 by FBI agents in Las Vegas.

"The FBI said Paddock tried to resist arrest and attempted to run down an agent with his car," read a July 28, 1960, report from the Tuscon Daily Citizen.

The 6-foot-4, 245-pound Paddock was convicted and slapped with a 20-year prison sentence, but the lengthy jail term was cut short when he busted out of a federal prison in Texas in 1969, the Eugene Register-Guard reported.

An escaped federal prisoner poster issued by the FBI at the time said Paddock was “diagnosed as psychopathic” and “reportedly has suicidal tendencies and should be considered armed and dangerous.”
Paddock grew up "on the run" with a Criminal father - a man who was an Armed Bank Robber, Federal Prison Escapee, gambling racketeer, lier and repeat & repeat & repeat offender. He was on the FBI 10 Most Wanted List and attempted to run down an FBI agent ...... and yet - Federal and Local Authorities repeatedly "let him off the hook" for his many crimes -- including his Federal Prison break. Very curious.

And people wonder why this Criminal's son live the high life, was a gambler and then rented a fancy suite at a fancy hotel and slaughtered people he didn't even know. I would say that the way he grew up had a lot to do with it. He still owns property in Texas, where his father end up the last 10 years of his life. I would say the brother that has been interviewed was not very forthcoming about their past family ties with Crime.

I never said you did just the rational laid out for needing 30 round capacity was **** poor. If you said you wanted it just because that's better than "what if you are deer hunting in the woods, fall and break your arm etc"

Paddock didn't grow up "on the run". His father was on the run, but the family wasn't.

Use of a missile launcher isn't recreational, isn't used in hunting, has no use in personal safety, isn't useful for transportation or recreational driving, doesn't come into play in cooking or carpentry or other hobbies, etc. It also isn't a right.

Using a gun, using a car, using a knife -- these are not and should not be inherently against the law. I believe use of a missile launcher, in most cases, by a civilian would be a violation of law, and would in and of itself represent a form of aggression / force / violence.

Congratulations: Your Logical Fallacy Is: Strawman

Hunting game to keep from starving to death.

SOS signals of one gun shot, three of them, a minute apart.
(seems we have a disagreement of a minute or a second; something to check out)

YES, it is for one of the things I have done over the years is evaluate .22 pistols for survival. One of the parameters is that you have one arm in a sling since that is not outside the realm in a crash situation.

Let me tell you, trying to load a magazine one handed isn't easy.

What do they all have in common? That too many people in this world have become disconnected or otherwise intolerant with no regard for life be it because of religious, political or otherwise motives. You are not going to stop this until that changes.

Just look at the attitude of many people, wondering if the guy is white or middle astern brown hoping it is one or the other. Or saying no sympathy for republican voting country concert victims associating country music with republican leaning voters or no sympathy from a christian or muslim leaning person for a gay victim at the Orlando shooting.

We are so divided by politics and color to the point that deep inside many people are not so sympathetic if it is a political rival of theirs.

People are learning to dehumanize their fellow humans if they aren't on "their side" more and more which leads to this
Bolded above. We are passed "dehumanization." Just look at all the threads on so-called "good" police shootings and grandstanding on how many were shot in Chicago on any given weekend. Gun violence is the norm in the USA.

Wonder how Trump's travel ban is working on domestic terrorism?

Drugs can affect your thought process.
Why do people assume he snapped? This was clearly premeditated. Snapped usually means it was sudden, this monster clearly planned to kill as many people as possible.

Mental issues just popped up after 64 years of living? Mental issues so severe, he decided he wanted to commit mass murder? We all know why people are are clinging to mental illness instead of pure hate.
