Most (there are exceptions) tropical countries don't have abundant natural resources, good seaports or even an assortment of agricultural crops

Then why the SIGNIFICANT disparity in the slave trade? Look at the arrow sizes, which correspond to the number of slaves delivered to each particular area:

Is it PC to say that that civilization is responsible for about 100 million deaths over the last century alone?

Is it PC to say that they’ve carried out the most brutal genocides of any civilization in recent history?

If you wanna talk civilization, talk about it all.

The Germans are easily the most technically advanced nation in Europe. Probably pretty close the most culturally advanced too, for what it’s worth.

They also tried to wipe two ethnic groups off the face of the Earth.

Mr Faber is an ethnic German. Funny how he left that out, but maybe it was too “PC.”

Wrote it in a financial/business newsletter like it was nothing.
No one talks about the quality of life for the AVERAGE European prior to the era of maritime exploration, colonization and eventually....imperialism. European peoples are masters at seesaw economics. They raise themselves up by weighing down the opposite end of the plank with others. Before maritime exploration, colonization and liberalism, these meant the European elites/aristocracy used the European masses as the weight to keep themselves elevated. Life was not good for the typical European.

What maritime exploration did was find new lands and new types of people to apply to their system of seesaw economics. Now, European peoples used non European peoples as the weight to lift up Europeans.

Marc Faber is one of the most highly quoted investors........and fancies himself as an economist.

Wrong? To my knowledge, the Africans he’s talking about weren’t interested in immigrating. They had everything they needed at home.

Europeans immigrated because they DIDN’T.

Point is, if he’s gonna exalt European civilization, he should tell the complete story. Europe hasn’t exactly been the bastion of civilization over the last century, has it?

This is why history taught from a Eurocentric perspective is dangerous.

You DO know that the Arabs enslaved 100s of millions of Africans over a period of hundreds of years, right? That their trade (in which Africans also willing participated -- see Mansa Musa for reference) went on for about 700 years before the first European stepped foot in sub-Saharan Africa?

You DO know that even when Europeans got involved in the African slave trade, that they simply saddled up to an already-existing and vibrant trade on the African continent? That they didn't go into the bush and kidnap people. They went to African and Arab-run slave posts.

You know the Arabs basically colonized and wiped out the indigenous cultures of north Africa, right? Hundreds of years before Europeans went to the Americas? You know that they colonized southern Europe, right? My own DNA results indicate my father's line came into Iberia from northern Africa several hundred years ago during that invasion?

You know the black African Bantu expansion in western Africa eradicated and pushed out the original inhabitants?

HISTORY people. Learn it.

Actually, it STILL has been the bastion of civilization. The majority of tech, health advancements, science, etc. has come out of Europe and North America over the last 200 years.

It has had advanced first world problems that don't normally attach to hunter-gather societies who hadn't even invented the wheel by the 1500s. This includes major wars and empire building. Primitive cultures don't get extra credit for *not* doing something that they *couldn't* do even if they wanted to.

If we look at post-colonial Africa, however, there is no evidence to suggest that given the means, Africans act any differently or more peacefully than anyone else.

Not saying primitive societies aren't valuable or don't have merit. But all of us here in the US should be damned happy we were 1) colonized by the British as opposed to Spanish or Portuguese (I have heritage from all three so I can say that without hesitation) and 2) that our tradition and culture is built on western values in general, as opposed to Middle Eastern or even east Asian.

It's why the most progressive nations on earth are in Europe and north America. It's why white European societies are better to minorities of all kinds than in places on this planet where minorities are majorities.

It's why DESPITE being white supremacist hell-holes, the entire third world is banging down the door to move to Europe, the US and Canada.

Sorry, can’t drum up any sympathy for nazis and their enablers. As the old saying goes, don’t start none, won’t be none.

Has he come out with the "I was misconstrued" statement, or a non apology?

You know, the classic "I apologize IF I offended anyone" malarkey?

I bet though a lot of people on this forum and in this country feel exactly the same way he does.
