It's almost as if scribbling last minute changes to the bill while not allowing anyone to read it before the vote was a terrible idea.

We established the Senate to be the slow, deliberate legislative branch of government. They behave like school children, procrastinating until the last second and turning in very sloppy excuses for work. Yet they're being paid extremely well and aren't held accountable for bad work product.

Corporate accountants started freaking out about this over the weekend, but the situation reached high farce when a group of lawyers from Davis Polk pointed out that, by leaving the AMT intact, Republicans had essentially undermined their bill’s most important changes to the international tax code.
Senate Republicans Made a $289 Billion Mistake in the Handwritten Tax Bill They Passed at 2 A.M. Go Figure.

The quality of work drops when you do not sleep. The GOP proved the point again.

It will also show that the GOP does not care about the voters they need to win. They only care about those who put (big) money into their re-election accounts.

Not to fear. Brady is already on the problem and the corporate AMT is on the chopping block. The middle class will be tapped to cover the difference. Maybe they will make individual rates and breaks expire even earlier to balance the costs.

We the property owners will be the ones who pay the most. There is no where left to go for local taxes. Cities will be the place to go. We have seen this in NC, rural and semi-rural counties are hollowing out as the young leave for better opportunities.

did you care this much when they did that during the ACA passage?

and seriously, all that bill did was get the measure to committee. the final bill will correct the error.

These are the nervous, posturing words of a man who has no idea what just happened.

But.. but.. it's REALLY important to me that Apple and Google and Uber not pay any taxes.

I mean this is the basis of free society, isn't it? That you can send all your intellectual property rights to some island, and make tons of money while paying no taxes?

"We all voted in favor, we win!" thats all they cared about. Its obvious they had little clue what they were actually voting for.
