You don't have health insurance, and say if you walk in a hospital they're compelled by law to treat you. But doesn't that mean American citizens are paying for your health care needs through their insurance? That doesn't seem fair does it?

If you're 65 years of age, I think you will be entitled to something. Is it called Medicare?
I could be fair and die instead. I'll keep it in mind.
I'm judgement proof. They don't bother chasing me because they can't collect.
I tell them if i win the lottery you'll get paid. That's what I said to their lawyer.
I don't buy lottery tickets, it's a dilemma .
But i haven't been sick for 20 yrs so it's moot.

Who pays?
The same people paying for the tens of millions of illegal immigrants in America collecting welfare, food stamps, housing assistance etc etc. And yes, they get free healthcare. And get this, in the liberal states ,they vote. No voter identification required.

Like I just added to my last post, you're a socialist!!....... You expect others to pay for your health care!! Boy, wait until the Americans wake up!!........

You have spent hours insulting England and the NHS, then you come on here saying you have no health care coverage, and Americans can pay if you become ill. You have made my day! I have just been for a wash and a shave, and I can't stop laughing.

If you ever visit England, I will meet you in Manchester and buy you a drink!! Plus the NHS will look after you if you become ill!!

Furthermore, a primary problem with today's NHS is budget cuts. If you don't fund it, it doesn't work appropriately. It's a bunch of idiots who think single payer is a failure or unneeded despite empirical evidence that shows the exact opposite.
The only idiots are those who think, after a plethora of examples, that government run is efficient despite empirical evidence that shows the exact opposite.

I was paying a yearly fine for not buying ins.
The fine was added to my taxes every yr.
It supposedly enrolled me in gvmnt care, which i never used but paid for against my will.

When I hit 62 I retired and fall under some other program.

I don't drink.

It was only a small place, and not any different to NHS facilities I had seen elsewhere. The nurses were a bit snootier!!....... Plus they had very nice uniforms.
You haven't seen the nice places, I mean palaces.

They really dont know what great healthcare is.
Last time I had ins I was in boston, paying $2k a yr. Surrounded by the best hospitals in the world. And I could pick any I wanted, could choose my own doctor.

Along came social healthcare, rammed down the throats of Americans against their will and premiums went through the roof, copays increased tenfold and more. It's been a complete utter financial disaster.

There's an American joke the English might not grasp, goes like this.
I'm from the gvmnt and I'm here to help you.

In England he would have gotten morphine drip because at 62 he was expendable.

10 yrs ago I was in the former Soviet union, the girl at the supermkt checkout told me "im a doctor". She pulled her medical bag out from under the counter. She works as a cashier to make a living but loves medical care.

Makes ya wonder.
In the early 2000s I was visiting a provincial capital city in China (one that now has an administrative area population of over 5 million). I asked one of our tour guides what the average salary was there for a doctor. She said the equivalent of $300 USD per month.

The NHS in England treats over 1 million people every 36 hours, carries out over 10.2 million operations and procedures every year and there are over 16 million inpatients every year, so 50,000 operations is only a tiny proportion of non-urgent operations and it should be noted that hospitals stop taking non-urgent cases and visitors to cut down on the spread of norovirus and types of flu.

The following Statistics apply to England only, there are seperate figures for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Not only does this poster expect everyone else to pick up the tab for his medical care as he doesn't have any money they can sue for, he mistakenly believes he is covered at 62. Medicare doesn't kick in until 65.

Then announces out of the clear blue that he doesn't drink.

Well, all righty then.

He said he was born in 1952, and retired at 62. So, that will make him at least 65. He honestly has made my day........ He sneered at everything about England from eye glasses to the NHS. He said how wonderful American health care is, and how he can also buy a gun while picking up a loaf.

Fair enough I thought....... I defended England as best I could, and then he came out and said he has no health care coverage, and as illegal immigrants get free care, then he is going to as well.

I nearly fell off my chair laughing. What a guy, and he is teetotal as well.........

Boy, I love city-data. It is just great.........
