They are getting conflicting information on whether the FBI actually also paid to get the dossier. This would be explosive info. I can't believe they would be this stupid so I am gonna think this is not true until some solid evidence comes out or some people go on the record.
An interesting new twist. Its possible that the Russians knew the DNC was paying for the info Steele was requesting. So they purposefully fed him bad info. Of course this is speculation.

According to most of the talking heads I've heard, the Russians were working to discredit whoever became president to insure they were weak. In fact, I've heard democrats say that.
The wild thing is the same democrats saying the Russians are trying to subvert us by weakening our political system, are currently working to do exactly the same thing. They are beyond irate about the Russians, but absolutely doing Vladimir's dirty work.
The GOP's problem is the 2018 mid-term elections are coming up and it looks ugly for the GOP. You know Democrats aren't interested in the truth of what really happened. In their heart of hearts they know the Obama administration pulled a fast one dragging the FBI into their conspiracy to rig the election for Hillary. Once they are the majority they'll shut down these investigations to prevent any further damage.
