Listening to Rush now. He said it won't be in California, one of the worst states for business or for middle class people. Great for illegals, the poor and the rich.
Unless he was talking about Amazon's new facility? Never mind!
Hard to keep track of all the great business news these days. He also said manufacturing jobs are going begging. Wait, thought those days were long gone, according to Hussein Obama.
None of the reasons Mr. Limbaugh mentions nor what you seem to agree with have been mentioned by those far more involved with the process.
California is already very heavy with tech industry; to the point it is causing all sorts of economic and other imbalances in many parts of that state. San Francisco and its surrounding suburbs for instance have basically become one giant "tech zone". This is causing things such as economic displacement an so forth.
From what has been gleaned through "leaks" by those familiar with what Amazon is looking for is that they want to start some place where the bones are good, and build perhaps another tech workforce/economy.
In other words it isn't about picking a place then moving tons of existing Amazon employees in to staff (though of course many will be transferred), but also looking to attract current and future local talent. That and or people willing to naturally move to whatever area is chosen.
Actually, Alabama is becoming quite the manufacturing mecca, with at least 4 auto manufacturers moving operations there in the last few years as well as a good number of other factories opening. I traveled there for work a few years ago-it was exciting to see a number of new manufacturing operations going up. Quite a difference from NY state where I grew up, where you drive by mile after mile of closed, rusting factories or demolished buildings.
I toured the Mercedes Benz plant in Alabama in 2013. It's impressive.
But, but. but $350 billion? CRUMBS! Any bets Pelosi is one of the politicians who gets deliveries of Alzheimer's meds? We already know Conyers was one. Methinks Nancy needs to take the Montreal Cognitive Assessment. Otherwise we will just have to wait for her to come to work in her nightgown.
