Ironic. With the GOP presiding they just shut themselves down.

What's clear is nothing is easy or easily negotiated and a 2 week temporary spending initiative so the negotiations could continue should have been a no brainer.

Bottomline: America loses
In 2013 it was about helping Americans and Republicans took the Senate and more seats in the House over it. So, Republicans must have been on the right side of the shutdown.
2018 and it is about hurting Americans for the sake of illegal aliens that should not be here in the first place. We will see how this pans out for Democrats. If they are on the right side of history here.

Nice to see some people still have conviction and integrity. The GOP would dump those DACA young people in a heartbeat, but there are still people on the other side who say no way.
Not having a wall was more important than having the DACA people taken care of.

Celebrate it if you want. It won't help DACA people or CHIP kids.

I have to put this one on the Democrats. I'm an Independent and want there to be a path to citizenship, but shutting the government down when CHIP is about to run out just seems harsh. Fund CHIP and then work on DACA and security with a separate bill.

Only if he gets involved which he hasn't done. He needs to lead otherwise why do we need him.

This is clearly a Trump shutdown and all blame should be on him for turning his back on two bipartisan deals. He is the one who was routing for a 'good shutdown' back in May on Twitter - now he got his wish.

GOP in Congress are also to blame for taking cues from Trump who clearly can't lead.

Irony won't occur until November, when The Schumer Shutdown decimates Democrats in the voting booths.
