It's sad how many people would rather tear people down as opposed to ask how they might be built up.
You really are a self righteous, virtue signaling ****, aren't you? Do you know how much AID we give Haiti, and other third world countries? Our tax dollars are going there every year, only to be wasted by their corrupt government, yet we still try, and GIVE our hard earned dollars. Also, many churches, and other charities send money, and people there to help. So we ARE trying to "build them up".
However, we speak the truth when we describe the conditions there as they truly are, instead of liberal make believe.

Some places are nice. Other places are blankholes.
*shrug*
It is what it is.
It most certainly does not have to be. Resorts built on these islands charging good money to stay there but rely on paying the help as little as possible.

It's called Capitalism. The resorts are owned by corporations whose SOLE responsibility, and reason for existence is to maximize profits for their shareholders. They pay the market rate for wages. The employees are not forced to work there.

What kind of "help" are you talking about?
Sometimes, I feel you just make ridiculous statements to get some attention from posters here.
Low wages, actually are not the product of exploitative multinational corporations but of extremely low productivity. The relevant question for those concerned about the very poor is not "how do we convince (or force) multinational corporations to pay more" but "how can we improve the productivity of the world's poorest workers?"
If Conan is right then he should be completely on board with the US sending all of the earthquake refugees back.
Hmmm, good point. They should be eager to get back.
I hope Haiti is that nice. If not, I hope they fix it, especially after the Clinton Foundation robbed it and exploited the situation.
Maybe parts of it are really nice and they can build on that success.
If a human messed it up, a human ought to be able to fix it... Eventually.
By the way, regardless of the exact verbiage Trump used, he was not talking about the people of Haiti or any other country. He would be referring to the condition of their country, which is part choice and part natural disaster, with a huge scoop of Clinton Foundation sprinkled on top.

For the U.S. Capitalism is where we overthrow another countries elected leaders to benefit the "capitalists".
