apparently they can't make the connection. I also love how they can't seem to comprehend the context, because it would require 15 seconds of digging past the sound bite Fox News spoon feeds them. It's literally crumbs compared to the tens of millions the Corps and Party donors will reap due to this law. Instead of crafting a policy that gives Apple, Trump org, and the Kochs a huge windfall one instead could have been written to leave their rates alone and instead give majority of the cut to the middle and working class so those 1000 bonuses could have been 5K refunds instead. However it seems Trumpsters only think they can get money from catching the crumbs falling off the table of the .01%.

The Democrats stand for NOTHING. They have nothing to run on. They're dead.

Doug Jones might disagree.

are Democrats referring to $1000 bonuses as crumbs show clearly they no longer the party of the middle class?
They are crumbs in the grand scheme of things because they are one-time handouts, rather than permanent wage increases.

Ask yourself this question: Why didn't these businesses opt for wage increases INSTEAD of bonuses? Granted, some companies are offering both, but most are focusing their PR solely on the bonuses, which are a less risky and less costly expense for them.

Apple is predicted to save $47 billion from the tax cuts.

yet...

You know what they are giving back to their employees? $2500 bonuses... in the form of restricted Apple stock! Lol. With 116,000 Apple employees, that works out to around a $290 million expense on Apple's part.... $290 million out of $47 billion. Not to mention Apple's ridiculous cash reserve of $261.5 billion. I'm sorry but they can do much better than that for their employees.

The point here is not to complain about businesses giving bonuses, but for employees to demand more for their hard work. Instead, conservatives are setting the bar low for these companies by praising whatever peanuts they give them.

you don't think Trump thinks a thousand dollars is crumbs

He's always been a millionaire -- he grew up in a house with millions.

This trying to pin point folks as not being able to relate because they have money can't work with this President.

It just can't/.

If you're getting $1000 from Walmart, you're not a low-wage worker. You're someone who's worked for them for a couple of decades, presumably working your way up the employment ladder. Here's what workers really got:

More than 20 years of service: $1,000

15 to 19 years of service: $750

10 to 14 years of service: $400

5 to 9 years of service: $300

2 to 4 years of service: $250

Less than 2 years of service: $200

Trumps tax cuts do the following,

Raise workers income by 0.8%
Raise middle class Americans income by 1.5%
Raise the richest 1% of Americans income by 13.5%
Raise the richest 0.1% of Americans income by 14.2%
https://www.forbes.com/sites/janetno...nalysis-finds/

And by 2027 a full 80% of Trumps tax cuts will go to the richest 1% of Americans (and the remaining 99% of Americans get 20% of the tax cuts.)
https://www.forbes.com/sites/janetno...-middle-class/

And when Trump lowered the corporate tax rate 2% of American workers got $1000 one time bonuses. But the wealthy CEO's of those corporations will get multi-million dollar permanent annual bonuses, and these CEO's will see their pay increased by up to 147% (while workers will see their salaries decrease in the long term.)

Maybe this is due to the $15 minimum wage movement, and to Obama care and effect on bussiness'.

I have never went to a self checkout lane and never will due to supporting human jobs.
And how does the $15 min wage fight in CA and OR effect all the closings and automated registers in Deep Red states?

This is what I'd expect to hear from a corporate bootlicker, who thinks workers should celebrate anything their bosses throw at them like it's mana from heaven. Not only does the bonus equate to less than .50/hr increase in pay, it's even taxed at a higher rate than if it was given as a .50/hr raise.

$1000 is fine b/c money is money. But let's not act like this is some move to reverse the trend of wage stagnation or to close the earnings gap that the lower to middle class workers have fallen into or that will have any impact on the economy by Q2. Much like Trump is what a dumb person's idea of smart person, this is what a raise looks like to people who are financially illiterate.
