If he was armed -- I would think his first line of defense would have been to secure the kids...and that may have meant he wouldn't have been ready to engage with the shooter.
That's my thought. If he had been armed, he'd have a choice to make. We don't know what would have happened, but one possible outcome is that more kids may have perished. Those teachers and coaches were heros. Let's not look past that.
No, not drama. Some people are making these teachers out to be some super hero in an action movie. Movies are not real life. Here we had a highly trained professional who couldn't do his job, yet teachers are expected to not only be teachers but also be highly trained security officers who will respond better than a sheriffs officer.
LOL.........you are missing the truth that at least in this case there were more than one HERO teachers who did respond better than the highly trained security officer who was there at the same time. The shame of it was these HERO teachers had no weapons to put behind their heroism. They saved lives, but its entirely possible they could have saved more if they had been armed.
Liberal law enforcement? Obviously you’re a Russian troll. How would you know this guy’s political ideology first off? And secondly it’s irrelevant anyways. I’ll save my breath for people that aren’t throwing out red herrings. Go pound some more vodka comrade.
The whole county is over 65% liberal lol. Easy to know.
it's almost like this is more complicated than simply adding to the supply of available guns at schools and even then nobody knows how they will react until they are in the moment. Maybe instead we could focus on figuring out ways to make it less easy for people with obvious mental health issues to have such easy access to assault weapons...I guess that's asking too much.
Easier to prevent anyone from bringing a gun into a school.
That has been and will continue to be a state/ district issue , no diff than arming teachers/ volunteers.
I wonder how many teacher could actually pull the trigger on one of their student though. Just a thought, but a split second hesitation could make all the difference. If they are suddenly face to face with a kid they had in their class, how would that impact their decision. And what would their own mental state be after killing a kid, and a kid they knew personally.
It's a super awful idea there are so many ways that it could end up badly.
