What does Trump having no military training have to do with this issue?
Exactly. Given that Trump wasn't in the military or had training in law enforcement he wouldn't be expected to carry a gun in school if he was teacher.
Guns in the hands of inexperienced people is a recipe for a disaster. Imagine a teacher leaving their firearm where a kid could pick it up or a shooter does come to the school and during the adrenaline filled moments the teacher actually shoots a few students while aiming for the gunman!
It does happen with the Police sometimes when the bullets start flying.
Arming teachers means only arming certain ones that are accepting of the responsibilities and have either had training or are will to take it.
The anti gun people are ridiculous when they throw out the last bit of common sense that we hope they have in favor of trashing on something Trump says and inserting their own words between his words.
Obviously not all teachers would be armed but the Left has to jump to conclusions.
The fact that Trump always offers an opinion, and is known to change that opinion within the next 40 seconds is not new
Neither is the fact that he often gives opinions on topics he has no knowledge or background--
He likes to pontificate----narcissists always think they are the authority in the room...
Trump wants to arm teachers because the NRA offers that as a solution to the epidemic of gun violence in schools...
Do you think the NRA is willing to pay for all that gun training or increased salaries for teachers who volunteer to man the guns at their schools???
Do you think the NRA will support metal health checks for teachers to be certified to bring guns on campuses???
You have teachers who obviously have issues with being adults since they have sexual relationships with their students---
Just because someone gets a teaching job doesn't automatically equate to their ability to wield a gun in an assault situation...
What do you think police think about entering a building with a report of armed shooter and know there are 30 teachers with guns in the building????

The NRA sees the problem of gun proliferation and massive numbers of assault rifles owned by Americans as something that can be cured by bringing MORE guns into the equation---
Like having more than one form of cancer is beneficial
The NRA is great at propaganda--making rabid gun owners feel threatened by responsible gun laws, trying to protect its turf from a rival gun organization, gaining more money to pay politicians to resist gun legislation efforts....
They are NOT great at keeping guns out of the hands of dangerous people and they never want to be good at that...

When I was a kid, there was this movie I liked called TAPS. It had a great cast. The cadets overtook the school. Great movie, I recommend it to anyone who hasn’t seen it. But in real life, has there ever been a school shooting at a military academy? I would think not.
Tom Cruise played a manic cadet who came unscrewed and caused lot of damage as I remember
And the entire premise of the cadets' actions was shown to be a BAD decision because young men don't have the capacity at times to deal with the emotions they feel---and giving young men access to weapons can lead to really bad outcomes...
That certainly fits with Cruz's desire to make people pay for the anger he felt and couldn't deal with
Fetal Alcohol Syndrome can leave people incapable of dealing with anger that comes because of the brain's trauma and not necessarily from any external, real force...
Meaning that Cruz could have grown up in a loving home (which wasn't really the case) and still had anger issues and been incapable of dealing with them in a rational way...
This was a very troubled young man because of a PHYSICAL condition that leaves emotional, psychological, and physical damage that counseling and drugs can't repair...
Not all children/adults with this condition become mass shooters but this is certainly much more serious imparment than the ADHD and Asperger's I read he was diagnosed with...
OK, everybody BACK UP. For those of you who only watch your MSNBC news feed, I actually watched the listening session where this idea was brought up. It was one of many suggestions brought up by the parents and kids from Florida. Trump said that it would only work if the teacher/coach was highly trained and that the gun would be kept in a SAFE. Nobody would know which teacher/coach, if any, had access to the safe. Out of respect for the mourning parents and kids, Trump graciously lent credence to each idea. But, of course, all we read from the MSM is "Trump wants to arm teachers". How disgusting.
