Asked of those of whom 85% are registered voters:
Quote:
"Q14 I'm going to read you two statements about gun ownership, and I'd like you to tell me which one comes closer to your point of view.

Statement A:
Gun ownership does more to increase safety by allowing law-abiding citizens to protect themselves.

Statement B:
Gun ownership does more to reduce safety by giving too many people access to firearms and increasing the chances for accidental misuse."

Results...

March of 2018:

Statement A/does more to increase safety: 58%
Statement B/does more to reduce safety: 38%

October of 1999:

Statement A/does more to increase safety: 41%
Statement B/does more to reduce safety: 52%"
http://msnbcmedia.msn.com/i/TODAY/z_...0(3-22-18).pdf

And the gun crime statistics mirror those poll results. As gun ownership in the US has increased by 50%, gun homicides have been reduced by 50% and nonfatal violent gun crimes have been reduced by 76%.

The LEFT will make a big show for more, and more gun control even tough we have 22,000 restrictive gun laws already on the books. It makes them FEEL better that they think they can disarm the law abiding, instead of addressing the criminal element. All virtue signaling all the time for these low information types.

Ok, let's look at polls. Let's look at a Fox News poll, so nobody can claim liberal bias.

"...A majority of voters in a new poll thinks it is more important to prevent gun violence than to protect gun rights.

...A Fox News poll finds 53 percent of respondents think it is more important to protect citizens from gun violence, compared to 40 percent who think it is more important to protect the rights of people to own guns...."

...In addition, there’s substantial support for specific measures to reduce gun violence, including: requiring criminal background checks on all gun buyers (91 percent), requiring mental health checks on all gun buyers (84 percent), raising the age to buy all guns to 21 (72 percent), putting armed guards in schools (69 percent), and banning assault rifles and semi-automatic weapons (60 percent)..."

People are a herd of sheep. I did some extensive research on this for a paper I had to write for a government class back in school. I looked at biased sources from both sides, along with the most neutral sources possible. The scientific fact is that gun laws neither increase nor decrease gun crime. Gun laws basically have no impact on crime whatsoever. The only statistical gun-related negative outcome is that a depressed person is more likely to commit suicide with a gun than by other means if the suicidal person has access to a gun.

Could you please post the stats and methodology of your 'research'? Where was the paper published?

How many times does your lie have to be repeated? Gun ownership rates are FALLING.

American gun ownership drops to lowest in nearly 40 years
Quote:
The percent of American households owning guns is at a near-40 year low in the latest CBS News poll released this month.

According to the survey, which was conducted among 1,001 Americans in the aftermath of the Orlando nightclub shooting, 36 percent of U.S. adults either own a firearm personally, or live with someone who does. That's the lowest rate of gun ownership in the CBS poll going back to 1978. It's down 17 points from the highest recorded rate in 1994, and nearly 10 percentage points from 2012.

What did they do with the guns ? Sell them to criminals ?

Lets poll criminals and see how many are giving up their guns.

How many guns are there in the US now, as opposed to the early 1990s?

Gun ownership has indeed increased by 50%, meanwhile the rate of gun homicides has DECREASED by 50% and the rate of nonfatal violent gun crimes has DECREASED by 76%.

It is quite clear that more guns DOES NOT equal higher gun crime rates, and actually corresponds to LOWER gun crime rates.

Even Pew Research concurs:

Yep.

It doesn't seem all that astounding. It mirrors the dramatic DROP in gun crime rates as gun ownership has increased by 50%.

Same reason why criminals using guns target "gun-free zones." They'd rather not be confronted with a defense of equal force.
