Now of course Hollywood will never admit it, but maybe it has to do with all the big celebrities that constantly attack and insult the President of the United States and Republicans ?

I’m sure that doesn’t help .

Fewer tickets were sold at U.S. movie theaters in 2017 than any years since 1992, according to Box Office Mojo.

Can we have a collective 'duh'....lol (I know silly thing to say but silly topic).

As home entertainment options have continued to expand, the amount of tickets sold in theaters has on average decreased. For comparison’s sake, more than 1.4 billion tickets were sold just 10 years ago.

So they make money off of Netflix, Amazon, HBO,Showtime, blah blah blah blah blah blah

I think your analysis is overly simplistic. Ticket sales are declining because the many options people have for entertainment. Many TV shows have just as big of a budget as a hollywood blockbuster and you don't have to leave your house to watch. Movie theaters need to adapt to changing consumer tastes are risk going extinct.

I was going to go to the Movies this week and after looking at what was showing I stayed home. The best movies I've seen lately is when I take my 4yo grandson to see the animated movies.

or, more likely, it's just part of a continuing trend cited in the link:

"Data from the website’s calculations show 1.239 billion movie tickets were sold between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31 last year. It’s a mild drop from 2016, at just under six percent, but more significant when considering the trend: As home entertainment options have continued to expand, the amount of tickets sold in theaters has on average decreased. For comparison’s sake, more than 1.4 billion tickets were sold just 10 years ago."

Let me guess; you'd like to equate low ticket sales with the anti-Trump sentiment shared by most Hollywood studios and sane people all over the country? Trump doesn't have enough followers left to even effect that kind of change. Is there ANYTHING you guys won't try to use in the effort to prop up your lame president?

Is there a trend? Or is 2017 a one time dip? I am thinking with the numerous options for entertainment available, and maybe more people like me who prefer to watch at home on the big TV than in the theater, that ticket sales are being hammered.

Edit; missed the part where it does address the trend. Seems it is just more entertainment options may be a major factor, and modern at home entertainment systems make the movie viewing experience pretty good.

You are right, it's not Trump or Politics. It's the lousy azz movies they make nowadays.
