There is no short term "winning" in Afghanistan. We cant leave. We will need to stay there for decades. This is the thing many politicians don't want to say publicly. There will be no packing up and leaving Afghanistan on its own anytime soon. We have to resolve ourselves to the fact that it is a multi decade project. Otherwise the Taliban and Al Qaida win and recapture a state apparatus from which to launch attacks on the rest of the globe.
That's the reality of Afghanistan. We are there indefinitely.
Just leave that dirt hole and let them kill each other.
Oh they did not beg for anything. AQ admitted what they did. It's what they do. They are not a rotary club. The Taliban gave them carte blanche and whored the entire country for them. And they paid a very, very horrid price for it- hope they're happy.
These are NOT nice people. They don't like you.
The goal is the status quo. Three different American presidents have all been in agreement on that. Can't say I am crazy about it, but if you can't turn them into Canada, then maybe keeping them from becoming a huge terrorist base makes some sense.
Afghanistan really does not function as a country.
So what if the Taliban aren’t nice people? So what if they don’t like us? That’s hardly relevant.
They asked for proof that AQ did what we accused them of and we should’ve provided it.
And yeah, the Taliban have paid a price, but they can afford it. Their patience will never run out. Ours will.
It was BS about the Taliban "handing over Bin Laden, closing terror camps" anyway. The Taliban never controlled all of Afghanistan, and the parts they did control was due to a collection of loose alliances. The Taliban was never in a position of power to close all Al Qaeda camps and hand over Bin Laden.

If I thought that is all that would happen I would say your right. However they would likely allow more terrorists to set up camp and use the place as a base to attack us just as they did in 2001. The sept 11 attack on the United States was so large and destructive that we cannot risk allowing this to happen. The cost of maintaining a presence there as long as a threat exists is well worth the cost. I don’t ever want to see skyscrapers falling in our cities again. 3000 Americans dead.....never forget and never forgive this. If a small force needs to be kept there for 100 years to keep them down I’m fine with that.

My only answer is to kill everyone in the ME area. Just gas it all and take over the oil fields. Hate to sound so hard but nothing will ever change over there and why kill our own people and spend trillions for a lost cause.
We have lost over for over 50 years, we broke countries that by God we had to pay and try fix while our healthcare system is a total joke. That money could have helped out own sick people paved new roads and so on. If i had that gas button to push i would have broke my arm pushing it so fast. Best thing for the whole world is you ask me, just take em all out.

Are you gonna pay for it out of your own pocket?
Because the VAST majority of Americans don't consent to having their hard-earned money spent in that country.

Why not just leave and let them do it themselves?
