Putin is asleep now, but when he wakes up he will be dancing for joy. Once again, the US is retreating from the world stage, forfeiting her influence without a shot being fired, and leaving Russia to fill the leadership vacuum.
I'm not sure who will fill the multiple voids we are leaving, but we sure won't like it when it starts to really kick in. Of course America will do what it always does - listen to blowhards in the media who will blame the convenient boogeyman of the day.
With the US pulling out of the deal, it opens the door for the Iranians to say the deal is null and void and resume their nuclear weapons program.
Now, they can expel inspectors which puts us right back to square one were we were 3 years ago, with the Iranians on the cusp of a being able to build a nuclear weapon.
Iran was not breaking the rules, and by all accounts, is playing by the rules. They, in theory, could have waited the 10 years, ramped up their nuclear program and start working towards a bomb. Now, they could start tomorrow.
What were his legitimate concerns regarding the deal, besides that Obama did it?
Why not negotiate a new one, instead of pulling out of it completely, losing face and reneging on our commitment to the deal?
Best deal maker.
Where/what is plan B?
How do you know they were playing by the rules? Because the 'inspectors' said so?
Plan B is simple. Re-impose sanctions and negotiate a better deal. Make sure they stop wreaking havoc in the Middle East, impose a ban on ballistic missiles, and create a deal that doesn't sunset.
If Iran does decide to actively pursue a weapon (which I am convinced they're doing anyway), they'll face the same isolation North Korea is facing right now. And perhaps Israel will take military action.
The neocons need their conflicts, with NK starting to fade, they are getting desperate. I will not be surprised if they also do all they can to derail any solution with NK.
Neocons have spent their entire career supporting international conflict, it is a cultural very difficult to let go of, it is not just a career, it is a way of life for them and their supporters. Hundreds of billions of dollars along with this lifestyle depend on having international conflicts.

Wouldn't it have made more sense to have been working on something like that, to have in place in lieu of just pulling out all together?

That seems to be his mantra; screw America, but if the n man did it, he wants it destroyed.
And yes, where is his plan? "We'll just have to see": only goes so far. What happened to the guy who "could make deals like nobody else could make deals"? I guess we'll just have to see.
I am no fan of the Iran deal, but at least it was something. It gave us certain access, and it kept open the door to dialogue. Were they cheating? In all likelih90ood.
But now, with no deal, they can go ahead full throttle and do as they please without observation, monitoring, nor dialogue.
This guy Trump is turning into more of a madman every day.
Mr. Prez, Kim just called. Deal's off because YOU cannot be trusted. Clever president; killed two birds with one stone.
Israel will use the US again like they did in the Iraq war with lies about WMDs.
Enjoy your higher gas prices and probably more body bags stuffed with American soldiers in the future.
