It doesn't. It's just to make Israel happy and to look tough. It's to say "we're powerful and we can do what we want". Okay... and?

Besides, somehow I don't think if Turkey invaded Italy and took possession of the Vatican, Catholics around the world would shrug their shoulders and say "Oh well, we lost". Heh.

I honestly feel we have only gotten involved because of the Holocaust. If Germany's Third Reich had never done what it did, Israel might not even exist.
And let's not forget that in the late 30's to the late 40's, that the British Mandate of Palestine (current Israel) was stormed with illegal immigrants from Europe fleeing Hitler. So the Palestinian Arabs were the majority in the area prior to the Holocaust. I find it ironic that people who don't want a Latin American takeover of this country via illegal immigration were/are perfectly okay with the Israel situation. Hypocrisy much?

Israel doesn't tell the USA where its capital is.
We shouldn't pretend to tell them where theirs is.
Israel is free to build an embassy in NYC if they wanted to. US has embassies in non-capital countries such as Dar Es Salaam, which is not the capital.
We are not required to dance just because Israel is playing music and telling us to dance.
You can't give the Nobel Peace Prize when you are responsible for creating the kind of turmoil that is happening with the move of the US Embassy to Jerusalem.
There are reports of 37 Palestinians killed by snipers.
So far no Israelis dead..
We sent a delegation to celebrate this event.

The US Government should not be adding to tensions in the Middle East...it just shouldn't.

I would add Israel is unique in that the status of Jerusalem is still being negotiated. The US needed to be perceived as a fair broker. In one stroke Trump has destroyed all perceptions of that and we are weakened because of it.
