No, it was not superb, it was a punt and a botched punt at that. It merely went over the Civil Rights orginization's ruling and NOT the fact that he could or couldn't be discriminatory towards his customers. You pro-bakers don't get it. The Supreme Court punted and it will take another case like this which WILL happen to cause this modern day Plessy V. Ferguson to be righted by its Brown V. Board.
Sadly, because of the way the Supreme Court ruled, this slippery slope is a distinct possibility. I hate the slippery slope, but it is so fitting with this case. As of right now I can deny a Christian if I am Muslim because they don't believe in Allah and this ruling supports that. Hey, this ruling means I don't have to serve them because it didn't say I couldn't...
Your 1st paragraph is right. The SC avoided the big legal issues like the plague.
Your 2nd paragraph is wrong. Business owners still don't know if they can legally refuse service. Sure, they can risk going through what Masterpiece went through for six years. If a gay couple walks into Masterpiece, a florist, a photographer today for wedding services, what happens if the businesses refuse based on speech and religious freedom grounds ? The couple still can file a complaint and the business risks fines and years of legal battles.
With that said according to the justices, in a 7-2 decision, Civil Rights Commission's decision
is correct.
A business is a business is a business. They have the rights to protect their business from financial
loss in whatsoever way or form it comes sailing across the table. In this case it was Hostility!

If anything, businesses will have learned from this and become smarter about turning away clients they do not want.
Example...
"What was the day? Let me check... (Looks at date book, planner, etc....) I'm so sorry, I'm already over-committed for that date (week, weekend, insert whatever here)."

This situation was an extreme rarity, customers going to a business where they aren't welcomed and owners turning away patrons because of personal beliefs. I doubt that many businesses are putting much thought into turning away customers based on religious grounds. I would expect quite the opposite.

In 2018 you are a bigot if you don't embrace homosexuality to be as wholesome as apply pie. Dropping the bigot card is a tool the conservaphobes uses to force their sick ways upon society. Society needs to realize homosexuality is not normal, homosexuality is not the cuddle bear lifestyle Hollywood portrays, homosexuality is a mental illness.
I caught the baker's interview on Fox this morning. He's an extremely soft-spoken and gentle sort of dude. He won't even bake Halloween cakes. His faith is the most important thing in his life. He didn't strike me at all as a loudmouth conservative gay hater trying to shake up the system ... just a simple man who doesn't want to be forced to create art that is oppositional to his values. I don't agree with many of his values, but I agree with his right to serve his community as he sees fit.

If you don't like it go some place else. Period.
So why all the blubbering...........
The ruling was regarding hostility towards the business, you ignoring the ruling.
