Who cares what you would've bet? If he had been an outlaw, I'm guessing that the report would've included the homeowner's arrest for owning an AK-47. I didn't read that in that report.
Ive mentioned how many AK47s are out there in a few other threads on here, apparently there are some people who think they are rare, and because they are illegal to own...therefore hardly anyone has one!! or that people are paying $20K+ for a single AK!! LOL
I will say it again...the AK47 is the most mass produced, most copied and most widely used assault weapon on the entire planet...only fooling yourself if you dont think there are LOTS of them in circulation in the US!
"because they are illegal to own."
FYI
" Is it legal to own an ak 47 in america?
"Yes, but if it is of recent import, it must be converted to semi-automatic.
The AK-47 is manufactured as a fully-automatic weapon, meaning that it is able to fire repeatedly as long as the trigger is pulled back. Before they can be imported and sold in America, they must be modified to shoot only a single bullet with each pull of the trigger.
Whenever you hear about AK-47s in the American news, you're not hearing about machine guns, unless the gun was illegally converted back to full-auto.
That said, before 1986, fully automatic weapons could be manufactured and imported into the USA. There may be some fully automatic AK-47s that were imported before then, and are therefore legal for American citizens to own and shoot. However, because they are no longer legally made or imported, existing legal machine guns are outrageously expensive."

'legal machine guns' being the key word there, says nothing about how many illegal, full auto AK47s are out there, or coming in regularly.
NOTHING so mass produced is going to be 20K+, I dont care whether its legal or not. The handful of people I know that have them, didnt pay anywhere close to that, they were acquired thru 'private sales' (under $1000.)
Full auto AKs are more common than most people think in rural areas.
Sh*t reminds of a episode on Seinfeld where the mechanic ate George 's candybar. He had Twix crumbs all over his shirt but George still couldn't prove it cause he didn't see him eat it. Lol
