I read the article. I didn't see anything about SNAP. Wrong article maybe?

Must be a computer glitch. When I click on the link now, I get the article.

This part of the Senate's proposed bill will also likely set up a clash in the House:

Quote:
...The Senate’s farm bill also would lower the adjusted gross income threshold at which farmers are no longer eligible for farm subsidies to $700,000 from $900,000. In addition, it would increase funding for U.S. Department of Agriculture trade-promotion initiatives. Roberts said more money is necessary to help maintain exports as Trump threatens to impose new tariffs against major U.S. agricultural buyers such as Canada, Mexico and China. ...

D's and R's arguing over the details of entitlement scheme$.
Or said another way; arguing over which group gets your money so they can get the most votes.
Think about this next time someone starts babbling how they want both teams to "work together to get something done"

More bipartisan welfare handouts at the expense of the American taxpayer.

It's all they do. It's all they have.

Taxation is theft.

Wait until they find out just how many SNAP recipients already are working, or are disabled and cannot work.

This is it in a nutshell. Their refusal to raise the minimum wage is largely responsible for working people getting food stamps.

Uh no, their willingness to run an immoral food stamp scheme is responsible for people getting food stamps.
Wages on the other hand are negotiated between principles and subject to the law of supply and demand.

But Obama did such a good job with the recovery right? Food stamp usage is still 50 percent higher than before the crash while population grew 8 percent.
When you hand people money for not working full time, the incentive to work full time decreases.
