Gallup Poll. May 1-10, 2018. 68% believe abortion should be legal under only certain circumstance (rape, incest, mother's life is at stake, etc.) or illegal altogether. Only 29% believe abortion should be legal under any circumstances.

How Americans Feel About Abortion - Gallup Poll

Digging deeper into the data... Less than half of Americans support abortions conducted when the woman doesn't want the child "for any reason," and there is a sizable falloff in support for this from the first trimester (45%) to the third (20%).

yes? Its a controversial topic. And peoples views differ. For example I did not want my children aborted and feel thats not something I can encourage in MY life, but I fully support it being legal. I support not allowing it in the last trimester without good cause, but im fine before that. I also think that tax money should not pay for it because to many of those who disagree with me on this that is insanely offensive.

So I have a very complex view of it, as do many others.

68% of those polled believe abortion should be legal under only certain circumstances.

I don't see where Gallup limited "circumstances" as you did. Did I miss something?

The vast majority of abortions are early- term and a majority of those polled seem to agree.

It takes a male and female engaging in unprotected sex to produce a baby.

In 17 states, Medicaid pays for abortions. That's tax money and really shouldn't be done as it compels some people by force (imprisonment and/or asset seizure) to fund a procedure that violates their religious beliefs. Of course that's unconstitutional, and it will be interesting to see if someone brings a case to SCOTUS.

No. 68% believe abortion should be legal under only certain circumstances (50%), or not legal at all (18%).

Yes, it's in the poll data.

Again, no. Less than half of Americans support abortions conducted when the woman doesn't want the child "for any reason," and there is a sizable falloff in support for this from the first trimester (45%) to the third (20%). The public doesn't support abortions performed for the sake of convenience.

Remember, the title of the thread... Gallup - Not much support for unlimited access to abortions

But it's ok for me to pay for wars that I object to? It's unconstitutional, I'm sure of it

Free Expression is a First Amendment Right. Passing a law that forces anyone to pay taxes that fund abortions is unconstitutional if it violates their religious beliefs.

Where Religions Stand on Abortion - Pew Research

Of course, the same wouldn't be true of funding wars because throughout history, religion has been the reason for waging war many times, e.g., the Crusades, the Children's Crusade, the Buddhist Uprising, the Lebanese Civil War (Sunnis vs. Shiites), the French Wars of Religion, etc.

And?

I wouldn't say this is a surprising set of data.

The poll is here:
https://news.gallup.com/poll/1576/abortion.aspx

60% abortion should be legal in the first three months of pregnancy
28% abortion should be legal in the second three months of pregnancy
13% abortion should be legal in the last three months of pregnancy

But 91% of abortions do occur in the 1st three months - but the anti-abortionists focus on the outliers and rare cases

"Of the 1.6 million abortions performed in the U.S. each year, 91 percent are performed during the first trimester (12 or fewer weeks' gestation); 9 percent are performed in the second trimester (24 or fewer weeks' gestation); and only about 100 are performed in the third trimester (more than 24 weeks' gestation), approximately .01 percent of all abortions performed.
