This is why I support the nomination of a conservative judge, despite not being a conservative voter. I want judges who will argue cases based on the Constitution, not feelings.
All Americans will win. All of us, including the dissenters. These are exciting times to be an American, and there is (quietly) a conservative resurgence about to take place in our country.
Remember the ancient Chinese curse, "May you live in interesting times." The Chinese are a wise people. Americans, well, some of us are just looking for excitement
In all truth this Supreme court pick will be a done deal. If Dems wanted to block it they needed to win either the Presidency or the Senate. A 50-50 Senate split would have sufficed since that would have forced Trump to pick someone in line with the three only 75% conservative Senators.
But as the case after every election- the new permanent majority never occurs. This court will definitely slant right- and 4 of the 5 conservatives are young by Supreme Court Standards. The irony would be if this started motivating Dems to vote with an eye on the Judiciary the way Rs have for the last 25 years. I actually know people who are pro-gay rights and pro-abortion who voted Trump and swore he would have no impact on those issues. We'll have to wait a few years to see if this pick impacts that type of voter or not.
